Dear Charlotte
We are in an uproar here to knight and have ben all the afternoone. We have got orders to march. We start tomorrow
morning at five oclock. We expect to go to reenforce Burnside. It will be a long march if we have to march all
the way wich we expect to. We caried Billy to the hospitle to knight. He haint as well to knight as he was last
knight. He is a going to be taken to Harpers Ferry to the jenerl hospitle. Charlotte I had my likeness taken this
afternoone but it is a poore picture. They cant take good ones here. It will come in an envelop by it self. Our
box dont do us mouch good. I cold the most of my butter and some of my cakes. I had to trust it out and our onions.
We have got to leave. I am verry sorry it hapened so but it cant be helped. We couldent take the box. They wont
carry it for us. I am sorry Billy cant go with us. We hate to see him left behind but I guess he will have a verry
good place to stay. I hope so. If Richmond ever is taken I think we will see it if we live and nothing hapens.
You must direct your letters as before. I will write again when I have a chance to tel you more. Not to feel uneasy
about Billy. Rast thinks he will get his discharge soone. I shal have stop writing for this time for Rast is a
huring me and Jim is getting tierd holding the slut. We got out of candles. It makes a poore light to write by.
No more at preasent. So good buy Charlotte.
