269, LOCK & QUAY This monthly, being the house magazine of the Docks and Inland Waterways Executive, was first published in September 1949 with the aim " to cover the many and varied activities in Dockland and along the Cut with articles, illustrations, social sports and staff news, and, we hope, humour." The post-war paper shortage kept it to 20 quarto pages per issue.

A bundle of 26 issues 1949 - 1954, including issue No 1. VG £16

 

270. WATERWAYS (Monthly) Following the separation of responsibilty for the canals from the docks in January 1955, with the creation of British Transport Waterways, (later British Waterways), the new body got its own staff magazine with a similar remit to its predecessor, but concentrating of course on "the Cut".

A bundle of 75 issues 1955 - 1968, including issue No 1. VG £25

271.. WATERWAYS NEWS "Waterways" was relaunched, after a break, in April 1971, with a new name & in newspaper format. As such, the condition is not so good as that of the magazines, some edges being frayed, & some paper browned.

A complete run, Nºs 1 - 43 (April 1971 - January 1975). & 10 odd issues £25

 

272. NAVVIES - the bi-monthly magazine of the Waterways Recovery Group. A5, typically 20 pages per issue. Sl rusty straples. Containing news on progress of current projects. 1972 - 177.
