The City Of KokomoFacts you might find interesting but would never ask for. Kokomo is called the "City of Firsts." This is because several important things (well, they were important to someone I assure you) started here in Kokomo, Indiana. For instance; the first steam controlled car radio was developed here. It was never used but it started here. Also, the first corn and cob reassembler was invented here. This was developed due to the eventuality that all the cobs had been mechanically de-corned and then it was realized that corn on the cob was selling better...it would reassemble the cob using small static electric charges to hold the corn back on. The first manually controlled Hydrogen Bomb was created in Kokomo. Once dropped, an agent would have to go to the bomb and push the detonate button....this may have been a fantastic development except for the fact that the time-delay mechanism came along 20 years later. The bombs exploded immediately upon pressing the button. Attractions in Kokomo.
This is the Seiberling Mansion. It has 4 floors, 38 rooms, 6 stairwells, and 1 bathroom. It was built by Gus and Shirley Seiberling during the great gas discovery in the late 1800's. While the discovery of gastro intestinal disorder was discovered by someone else it was the shrewd Seiberlings that managed to steal the patton on antacids and became instant trillionaires. While Gus wanted to build in Hollywood, Shirley demanded they stay close to her mother who lived in a one room shack out back.
Now used as a bridge this was originally an ark used by the Kokomochi Indians about 400 years ago when medicine man Hadgi predicted that the wildcat creek would flood so much that all the great flat land would be submerged. A bronze replica of the tarred and feathered Hadgi is located inside the bridge.
