TEXT: The untold stories of "hidden children"--men and women from Poland, Belgium and Hungary who, separated from their parents as children, survived the Second World War and beyond by reinventing their identities. In the tiny Polish village where she hid, Jewish-born Marianna Adamchek poses as a Catholic, attending church each Sunday. Grzegorz Pawlowski, born to an Orthodox Jewish family in Poland, remains a Catholic priest to this day. Theirs are two of the six wrenching stories finally brought to light in this unprecedented documentary.

TEXT: Four Jewish soldiers defend Hill 24 in Jerusalem during the 1948 War. A classic Israeli film starring Yossi Yadin and Shoshana Damari. This film was later spoofed by Director Assi Dayan in the 1975 comedy, Halfon Hill.

The Jewish character, named Vinz, is filled with hate for the world and the cops. He finds a gun and wants to kill a cop if his friend dies. Winner of Best Director Award at Cannes 1995. Kassovitz's first film was Metisse (Cafe au Lait) about a Jewish kid in love.

TEXT: Barbara Myerhoff was a famed cultural anthopologist based in southern California. She was examining the lives of the Jewish elderly who live a community in Los Angeles. Professor Myerhoff realized that she had cancer and that this Fairfax Project would be her last. So she changed the direction of her study to focus on some Hassidim. Myerhoff became a member of this group, and explored their customs and rituals. This film is a one hour interview with Myerhoff two weeks prior to her death.

TEXT: an uneven film on the attitudes towards peace, with a good Gazan score by Said Morad-Sabrin. Haifa, played by the actor Mohammad Bakri, is a deranged character and probably a metaphor for the palestinian people. He is befriended by Abu Said, a cotton candy vendor in Gaza. Abu Said's unemployed sons, Said and Siad, are skeptical of the peace plans of Arafat and Rabin. Other friends of Said are also cautious about the peace plan, but all of them excitedly watch the signing of the peace plans on their antique television set.

Peled's unusual access to this volatile community reveals, through jarringly candid interviews, the racism and hatred of the settlers towards their Palestinian neighbors.

THE SOUND by Itai Aloav (20, Tel Hai College, 88) is the story of 2 friends: one plays a magical instrument, while the other listens. The split up, and are unable to continue their playing and listening.
CREATION OF THE WORLD by Dorit Cohen (10, Camera Obscura, 87) about the chaos prior to the creation of the world, which when organized, is in the correct tempo and place.
REMEMBRANCE / INDEPENDENCE by Avi Dassberg (15, Cam Obscura, 88) is a documentary examining the proximity between Yom HaShoah and Yom Haatzmaut, as viewed by people on the state's 40th birthday

ONE OUT OF THREE by Ram Nahari (20, Alon HS, 88) about a girl preparing a surprise party for the class queen, who is returning after a few years abroad. As the suspense builds for her arrival, the girl tries to takes her place.
A GOOD KID by Yaron Arazi (20, Alon HS, 88) about a troubled 16 year old youth who finds out that, unlike his peers, he has no desire to rebel. The film describes his desperate attempts to rebel.

AT HOME by Jonathan Segal (23, 1987) focuses on 2 gay playwrights who have lived together for a decade. One is successful, the other isn't, and jealousies develop.

THE TRIAL - A GUIDED TOUR (8 minutes, 1994 , TAU Film Department) is a great guided tour of Israel new Supreme Court building, filled with symbolic references to justice and Judaism.
