MBA Style magazine - Ties

edited by MBA Style magazine

On the right is a display on how to tie a Four-In-Hand Necktie. It is the most common knot, but I prefer the Windsor family knots for job interviews.
1. Take A, which is longer and wider than B, and cross it over B.
2. Bring A around and under B
3. Now bring A back over B
4. And pull A up and through the loop around your neck.
5. Then bring A back down through the loop you have made with A. Tighten the knot, adjusting it with both hands.
6. Draw the knot up tightly around your neck. The tip of A should tough your belt buckle.

[windsor]

1. Take A, which is longer and wider than B, and cross it over B.
2. Bring A around and behind B
3. Now bring A up
4. And put A back through the loop.
5. Now bring A back over B.
6. And once more bring A up through the loop
7. Bring A down through the outer loop in front.
8. And tighten the knot with both hands. Draw the knot up tightly around your neck. The tip of A should tough your belt buckle.

[shelby]

On the right is a display on how to tie a Shelby knot.
1. Start with the tie inside out. Cross A under B. A is the wider part of the tie.
2. Take A over and under B
3. Pull it tight
4. Take A over to the left.
5. Take A up and through the loop around your neck.
6. And bring A down through the knot and tighten it.
7. Draw the knot up tightly around your neck. The tip of A should tough your belt buckle.

[bowtie]

On the right is a display on how to tie a Bowtie.
1. Place the bow around your neck. A should be longer than B.
2. Cross A over B
3. Now bring A up and under the tie loop around your neck
4. Tighten the knot a little bit and double form the base of the tie (B).
5. Let A flop over the indented part of B, which you have just double formed.
6. Now that A is over B, fold A back on itself (double form) and poke it through the loop behind the tie and behind B
7. Now adjust it by tugging the edges of the bow.
