Hey now, everyone, and welcome to a groovy webpage. Hopefully, it will become more and more extensive and have more and more interesting content for all to bemuse. The main intent of the page is to talk about music and to expose all that there is to know about certain jambands. The music that I love is played by many jambands, including, but definitely not limited to, the Grateful Dead, SCI, LoS, moe., Strangefolk, WSP, the Big Wu, Umphrey's McGee,etc...The music that these and other bands create usually transcends the realm of ordinary, verbal description. An omnipresent vibe permeates throughout the musical atmoshperes that these bands exist under. Most of the bands are "taper-friendly," meaning they are amenable to the notion of having their live performances taped and then subsequently traded by their fans. I, myself, am one of these traders, thus I have much music at my disposal for immediatetrading. If anyone is interested in obtaining some of my music, just drop me a line at JGradyDead@aol.com . Thanks, everyone, and enjoy the ride!! Peace.
There are many great music festivals that showcase the best of the best of the jamband scene. A few of the biggest, most recognizable festivals are High Sierra, Bonnaroo, the GAthering of the Vibes, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. EAch of these festivals offers a large number of bands, including those mentioned above. Several various types of music are usually exhibited at these festivals, including blues, jazz, reggae, bluegrass, funk, and rock and roll. A myriad of different musicians displays each of these genres through their music. Different types of musical expression are shown by the musicians. Some are straight-out exciting and energetic in their approach, while others are more subtle and mellow. Either way, the music at a festival rocks and there is no better way to spend a weekend!!
Like an eccentric bubble of interdependency, respect, and music, Bonnaroo was a festival ready to burst and release all of its intrinsic jamband values to the rest of the mainstream world. With a swarming population of over 75,000 rabid, fearless music and community freaks roaming the 600-acre Manchester, TN farm, the festival proved that non-commercial, grassroots-oriented musical utopia is possible. A dream line-up comprised of Widespread Panic, Phil and Friends, String Cheese Incident, moe., and Trey Anastasio created an endless array of musical possibilities and opportunities for musical dreams to come true. Explosive and diverse, Bonnaroo provided an eclectic musical atmosphere. Artist repertoires ranged from pure funk (Galactic) to Southern blues (North Mississippi All-Stars), from rock and roll (Widespread Panic) to bluegrass (Del McCoury Band), and from unique (Blind Boys of Alabama) to indescribable (Umphrey’s McGee). Bands dappled in improvisational experimentation and delivered unique palettes of musical expression all weekend. Highlights of the three-day extravaganza included late night sets by Galactic, moe., SCI w/ Keller Williams, and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, two nights of Panic, and Bob Weir's guest appearance with PHil and Friends. All in all, it was a super way to spend a weekend in Tennessee, based on the great music, great vibes, and great excitement that danced its way around the venue.
Music can be a force. It can move, shake, and groove. Groove, jam, rhythm, beat, melody. These are the elements of powerful music. They create positive vibrations in people and cause people to dance, sing along, and participate in other ways, both physically, mentally, and spiritually. The spiritual groove that music can generate is an indescribable entity. It helps to heal and it helps to inspire. So, jam on and use the groove.
