Emergency Medical Dispatch
Emergency Medical Dispatch, or "EMD" is a system where the Communications Officer utilizes pre-configured protocols to gather critical medical information, determine emergency responses, and provide over-the -phone medical instruction to callers.
An EMD system must be properly implemented to include proper training, implementation, Quality Improvement, and system review and up-date.
EMD works! If properly implemented and managed.
