1959 - 1996
Firefighter Brant Chesney was killed in a collapse, while fighting a condominium fire on Lake Lanier in Forsyth County, on Friday December 27, 1996. Brant would have been 37 on Sunday. He leaves a wife and two sons. He was a
Firefighter with the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services, with over 15 years service. Brant was also a Lieutenant with the Forsyth County Vol. Fire Department. Brant has been called the "Best of the Best" and the "Firefighters
Firefighter". He dedicated his life to firefighting, always striving to improve the way the task was done. Brant was a well known fire instructor not only in the State of Georgia, but across the United States as well. Brant only several weeks before
had been honored by Gwinnett County as the "1996 Fire Instructor of the Year". Brant will be missed at Gwinnett Fire Station 9.
