30-31, Holden Beach, NC, Grumpy Fest
OK, actually this is a craft and art fest that the town of Holden Beach throws every year, and a lot of fun. It has become an "informal" kite fest, with members of WACKOS and others flying on the beach to help draw the crowd and keep them amazed byt the wonder of it all. And it's worth the trip for dinner at Betty's, followed by some night flying if all goes well...
NOVEMBER 2004 EVENTS
13-14, Tybee Island, GA, GISKC
Competitions with associated flying show kites and just regular old kites for funsies. Banquet/auction features a nice oyster roast if you get there early. If you don't like oysters, you can always arrive late. Last and most authoritive word is that flying will be up at the "North" end of the beach again this year instead of by the pier, but I've heard it both ways so maybe don't rely on that info yet....
