Capital Association for Conductive Education
Mission Statement
The mission of the Capital Association for Conductive Education
is to assist in the development of children with motor impairments through
the promotion of Conductive Education. This mission will be carried out
by:
- Providing a regular and permanent program of Conductive Education in
the Washington Metropolitan Area for children with motor impairments or delays,
especially cerebral palsy;
- Working with medical and educational professionals to establish a
consistent method of evaluating the progress of participants in the program
in order to measure program outcomes and document the program's success;
- Educating the public, other non-profit organizations, the public school
system, government officials, and the medical community in the benefits of
Conductive Education's integrated therapeutic approach;
- Raising funds and attracting program sponsors in order to reduce the
cost of the program for low and moderate income families in need of Conductive
Education;
Scholarship Fund Announced!
As many of our colleagues are aware, CACE suffered a great loss
recently with the untimely passing of our founding president, Margie Le
Vant. Margie was an inspiration to us and our community, and her
commitment to conductive education was unwavering. We miss her greatly.
In cooperation with Margie's family, CACE has established a scholarship
fund in her name. The funds are being used to offset the cost of
conductive education for as many families as possible, especially low
income. We have already had one child participate in a five week
program on full scholarship, and we expect several more this summer.
Contributions can be mailed to our offices. Thank you for keeping
Margie's family in your prayers.
CACE Hires First Permanent Conductor!
This past November, CACE hired its first ever full time employee! If
you are a new and struggling organization, you know this is quite an
accomplishment. For CACE, it means that we now have programs offered
continuously, year round. For more information, call (703) 920-0600.
Summer Program Announced!
This summer, from the last week of June through the first week of
August, CACE will offer programs in three age groups: kindergarten (age
4 to 6), grade school (age 7 to 10), and pre-teen/teen (11 to 14). We
are billing this as our first ever "CE Boot Camp". Children will enter
as privates. With hard work and completion of the program, they will be
promoted one level in rank. For every six week "boot camp" that a child
completes, another promotion.
If you are interested, contact Lynne Carr at (703) 817-1632, or call our
office at (703) 920-0600. Hurry because spaces are filling up rapidly!
Newsletter Under Way
CACE has begun publishing a small, hopefully quarterly, newsletter for
our community of CE participants and donors. If you would like to
receive a copy, send us your address. Please give us both your mailing
and email address as we are looking to develop an email version of the
newsletter too.
