JIMMY CONNORS' BANDEROS

SMOKEY SOUTHWESTERN ROCK WITH A PINCH OF BAJA SPICE

In the tradition of the great classic blues rock bands, Jimmy Connors' Banderos offer a stagefull of talented players performing timeless and tastily-arranged "Contemporary Progressive Americana" - if there can be such a thing - that will suck you in like a romantic adventure and take you on a winding journey inside the heart and soul of a semi-mythical character and the women of his dreams. One moment you'll look through the eyes of a man in lust, in another moment you'll genuinely feel true romance, and the next moment you'll pine with his melancholy reminiscings of love lost. Sometime it's heavy, sometimes it's dreamy, and sometimes it's spicey. It's a little bit country, a little bit Western but a whole lot of rock and roll!

The backdrop for Jimmy's instantly identifiable sound is a unique recipe. The BANDEROS combine the sounds of heavy blues rock, Southern rock, scorching Tex-Mex twang, and swampy bayou sounds with a double dash of Baja spice. Making musical gumbo with Jimmy's smokey acoustic guitar is Rick Schettino's scorching electric guitar, Caribbean steel drums by jazz percussionist Paul Horn who also plays drums, Mike Peters' atmospheric organ and piano, gleeming pedal steel by the legend Bob Siggins, Nick Perpich on bass and latin percussion, sultry harmonica by Mo Grundy and Jim Carbaugh, Aaron Valencia's soulful saxophone, and newest members Rich Scott on bass and Jay Soule on drums. All ten are highly experienced players with a combined playing experience of over a quarter of a millennium! Past shows have also included sit-ins by Chicago Blue Lou on harmonica, Tubby keyboardist Neil MacPherson, well-known North County singer/songwriter Steve Mendoza, and violinist extraordinaire Matthew Gladstone.

Past performances by Jimmy and his San Diego-based Banderos (f.k.a. The Little Big Band) include The Belly Up, Dreamstreet, The Coaster Saloon, The Kraken, Fat Catz, Robbie's Road House, The Jumping Turtle, as well as many private parties and special events.
