DeVine's Photo Gallery:Ben Dubose news

Welcome to my
"Personal collection Photo Gallery"

Here is the link to the actual article that appeared in the "Moaning News" April 1945. The article reports my "heroic action" in saving Cpl. Ben DuBose from drowing in the lagoon off Sand Island. It was actually a purely spontaneous act that I have written about briefly in my memoirs "Escape". I visited Ben DuBose at his home in TX in 1992. He passed away in 1995. After his infamous swim, Ben was eventually transferred to Pearl, and then joined the occupation of Japan. He was an Army communications guy. I was always glad that I happened to be on the scene when Ben needed some help. He lived a full life.
