Failure to Launch

Jimmy' review

7/10

This romantic comedy stars Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. It is the story about a 35 year old man (played by Matthew) who cannot leave his parents home. So Matthew's parents call upon the services of Parker (some type of interventionist) to lure him into a false love relationship so he can have the confidence he needs  into moving out of his parents home.

Overall I thought this movie was entertaining and funny.  It is something to watch when there is nothing on TV. The story was refreshing and the supporting actors were very funny. The only problem for me on this movie was the main characters. I just don't think Sarah Jessica Parker is funny. I never did. I don't even think she can act. As for Matthew I think he is a great dramatic actor but he stinks when it comes to comedy. It just seems like he is trying too hard to be funny. Slapstick does not work for him.  But if you like these two stars then this movie is for you.

Finally a comedy about something different, which is starting to become more and more common - the thirty-something child still living with their parents.  The storyline is a bit far fetched because I have never heard of a person who is an interventionist.  But overall the movie was funny, sad, happy and had all the ingredients to make it good.
