Jimmy's Review

6.9/10

The film adaptation to Steve Martin's love story novel.

It stars Steve Martin, Clarie Danes and (mini Martin) Jeremy Kraft. A lonely girl from Vermont now living and working in LA, so bored with her life that she involves herself in two relationships. One with a wealthy 50 year old man and two with a punk drifter. It's not so much a chick flick but more a dramahick flick. Something to watch when there really isn't much else on.

Linda's Review

7.5/10

It's a love movie.  An older man who doesn't want a serious relationship begins to see a girl who works at Saks.  I kept on waiting to see if it was going to be funny, but it wasn't...what happened Steve Martin?

Anyhow, I think you were a little unfair in your "Shopgirl" review.  I think this movie was highly under-rated.  It wasn't meant to be a comedy but a human drama.  To think the guy with nothing had more to offer her than the guy with all the money in the world - IMAGINE THAT!  I found this movie to be so touching and hope more people get to see it.

P.S. We read the review and will be viewing "Match Point" this evening.  As you know, we don't have a lot of time to watch movies so we are depending upon your review to lead us to a good one - lolololololol

Regards, Vanessa
