UPDATE! UPDATE!
Special thanks to Jim and Nepenthe for all their help!

Pictured above is a "view of the interior of the Esplanade Ballroom Lobby. The Esplanade is located at the east end

a Kai Krause conference. Peter Gabriel is rumored to be a surprise guest!

List of Myth players coming to the Expo. Are you on the list?

Schedule of Myth games at the National Mac Gaming Championships

If you are an avid Myth player, are attending Macworld Expo this coming January, and would like to add your BNet name to the list below, please email me, Freewill. I requested dates when the list first started because I was trying to gauge when would be the best day for our outside meeting. Since that's already been announced, I no longer need dates, FYI.

We currently number 53! With such a large showing of fans, let's show Bungie that we appreciate their dedication to making some of the best games to have ever graced our screens.

I'd also like to stress that we are not anti-PC... well, we may come off as anti-PC on the showroom floor ... but in terms of the bigger picture we couldn't care less! So the cybercafe meeting below is open to ALL players.

Wondering what other games Bungie has up its development sleeve? Check out their Oni page. It looks like it's going to be another kickin' game! I have some Oni info on the older news page. Yes, it looks like Oni will be making an appearance at the Expo! And for those that asked, no, Double Aught will not be officially present at the show :-( The good news is that the reason they won't be at the expo is because they're busy working on their new game, Duality.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

LATEST NEWS

12/29/98 - DATES NO LONGER POSTED As hinted above, the list has now been purged of dates... it's no longer relevant to our planned activities. Feel free to send me your name, but a date is not necessary. This also marks the day that I spotted this page linked on Bungie.net. I think I've finally made it into the real world :-)

12/26/98 - HEY, WE GOT A CYBERCAFE!! My apologies to all of you for the lack of updates. However I have great news: Internet Alfredo, a cybercafe within walking distance of the Expo, has graciously agreed to host our get together. The festivities will take place on Thursday, January 7th, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. This is open to all Myth-ers, regardless of platform. Come on down and rub shoulders with some of the Bungie folks and get to play on the cafe's network of 7 machines. Being a cafe, there will be food and drink for all. So come down and relax those tired, aching feet. Special thanks to Nepenthe and Jim (Bungie Jim!) for the assist. Since this is all about having a good time, any unruly behavior will not be tolerated. Who knows, if the event has a nice turnout and goes without any serious glitches it might become a yearly event.

With all that said, however, let me post one major caveat. Bungie has not officially gotten back to me yet on this. The powers that be over at Bungie are away on vacation. So there's the slimmest of chances that this evening meet might fall through. Right now, though, I'm in 'glass is half full' mode.

Regardless, what if you can't make it Thursday evening? Don't fret! Here's what else is happening:

  • We will have an informal gathering at the Bungie booth 3PM every day (1/5-1/8). Group photos and other fun stuff is encouraged. If you're only at the expo for a day, this would be a great opportunity to say hello and shake hands with fellow players.

  • National Mac Gaming Championships: If any of you have entered the Myth Team or Myth II Team games and want to actually meet and discuss strategy with a teammate, come to our first 3PM gathering and lets talk! I, for one, would love to meet with my fellow Myth Team Slot 2 or Myth II Team Slot 2 players and figure out who I want to team with and who I'll be playing against. This is a little better than meeting someone just 10 minutes before the start of the game, isn't it?

The 4pm Tuesday meeting doesn't help our Myth pals that are playing the 2PM Tuesday slot, so I would advise them to hang around the Bungie booth around 1pm and see if they can quickly make a Myth friend :)

I took the liberty of visually graphing below when all the various Myth games are playing. The length of each game is based on their rules that state it should take no longer than 45 minutes per round. But as anyone that has entered a tourney should know, YMMV. Even if you're not in the actual tournament, come down and watch the major carnage that is sure to transpire. Cheer for your fellow friend or ordermate, or just cheer!

National Macintosh Gaming Championship Schedule

Mythifier mentioned that we should videotape the activities. Someone could then digitize and compress it for public consumption. I am, of course, all for this but I don't think I'll have the time to do it myself. If you have a video camera and don't mind, feel free to bring it along with you.
