Syncro Safari
Here are the ecological values I support and expect
every Syncro Safari participant to embrace.
Syncro Safari participants will care for our environment. I expect that we will all leave the beautiful areas we visit in the same (or better) condition as we find them. We plan to travel only on established roadways, not "cross-country". We will haul out everything we haul in.
From the organization dedicated to responsible use of the outdoors,
"tread lightly!" is the following:
T - travel and recreate with minimum impact
R - respect the environment and the rights of others
E - educate yourself, plan before you go
A - allow for future use of the outdoors, leave it better than you found it
D - discover the rewards of responsible recreation
For more information on tread lightly! see: www.treadlightly.org
Also, from the Boy Scouts of America, the Outdoor Code:
"As an American I will do my best to -
Be clean in my outdoor manners.
Be careful with fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors.
and
Be conservation minded."
Be clean in my outdoor manners:
I will treat the outdoors as a heritage. I will take care of it for myself and others. I will keep my trash and garbage out lakes, streams, fields, woods, and roadways.
Be careful with fire:
I will prevent wildfire. I will build my fires only where they are appropriate. When I have finished using a fire, I will make sure it is cold-out. I will leave a clean fire ring, or remove all evidence of my fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors:
I will treat public and private property with respect. I will use low-impact methods of hiking and camping.
Be conservation minded:
I will learn how to practice good conservation of soil, waters, forests, minerals, grasslands, wildlife and energy. I will urge others to do the same.
As a tread lightly! charter member and a Boy Scouts Scoutmaster, I am comitted to protecting our environment. If you feel that these ecological values give you even a small concern, then please don't attend a Syncro Safari event.
