There have been many Umholtzes who have worked on gathering this information down through the years. In essence though, the beginning of an organized Umholtz genealogy occurred with Mrs. Aubyne E. Umholtz. Aubyne collected information for 30 plus years, from 1940 to 1971 when she handed it down to her daughter, Mrs. Aubyne Umholtz Dolifka. Aubyne, whom some of you know as "Sue" continued to compile and gather information until very recently. In her last compiled "book" she indicates that she stopped in 1988 when I was lucky enough to be the recipient of the information she and her mother had gathered. I still periodically receive updates from her so I view the 1988 date with much skepticism(smile). Since much of the information that we find in the genealogy had its origins in the work done by the Aubynes and their contacts I find it only fitting to acknowledge, as Aubyne(Sue) did, as many of these people as possible. The following is from Aubyne's(Sue) book.
