OUR MEETINGS
The Northeast Iowa Genealogical Society meets on the third Tuesday of each month except for July, August and December. Meetings are held at the Grout Museum of History & Science, 503 South St. Waterloo, Iowa. (NOTE: Due to the expansion construction at the Grout the meeting room and the library will not be available for use from March thru November 2008. Meetings will be held as indicated in schedule below.)
Our Meetings begin at 7:00pm. Anyone interested in genealogy may attend.
When the Society was formed in 1970, we were the only genealogical society in Northeast Iowa. Since then nearly all of the counties in NE Iowa now have a genealogical society. Our society now pertains to Black Hawk County, Iowa, only.
Anyone who needs the address of another genealogical society may write to our society and we will mail the address of that society to you. Please include a SASE. Queries: if you have a query to place in our newsletter please bring it to a meeting or mail it to our society for inclusion in our next newsletter. Located here in the Grout Museum the Han's J. Chryst Library is the premier Northeast Iowa historical and genealogical resource. With over 11,500 maps, documents, news clippings and historical photographs, over 2,500 historical and genealogical books, the library is an outstanding research tool for the museum staff and the many genealogists, historians, students and scholars that use the library every year.
RESEARCH: Our society will do Black Hawk County, Iowa genealogical research. Our fee is $10.00 per hour plus photocopying costs. Please send a SASE. Research coordination can be made via e-mail with Allaire George ( allaireg7@mchsi.com ).
