NBA Live 99 Tips and HintsWell right now no codes are out for Live, but there are a lot of little things that can vastly improve your Live game. I am sure you have experienced this problem or heard about it. Personally I dont see it as a problem, but for those who do, I have a solution. Someone asked me a question how to fix it a while back and I gave him this suggestion. Play on All-Star or Superstar mode. Use the turbo button a lot, and your players should get pretty tired. For your opponents, before each game go to the players screen and turn down the endurance rating for the first 8 or so people off of their bench. The players will get tired and the computer will sub for them. After the game, don't save immediately. Go back to the players menu and reset your opponents ratings (you won't have enough create-player slots to save all your opponents over the season's changed ratings). Its an extra 3 minutes everytime, but its worth it if your concerned about the Fatigue Problem. On superstar mode its hard not to get blocked to get in the lane. To get a good shot off its a good idea to set picks (Select Button) on your ball handler and drive it to the hoop. When they come out on you, pass it out. Keep doing this and eventually you will find either an open dunk or an open 17 foot jumper. That is a good way to score if you dont want to use your playbook. direct passing to get it to your PF (L1-square). About 75% of the time he is open to dunk or get a jumper. Take it to the 3 point line, fake a crossover (R2-Square) and then spin into the lane. From there you can do whatever, pass or shoot. If you have a good dunker this is easy. Just use direct dunking (L2-square/circle/triangle) around the hoop and he should try to stuff it over whoever is defending. Outside shooting has always been tough on Live, but this year is fairly realistic. The key to making your outside shots is using the right player (good rating in shooting) and getting your shot off at the precise time. Jump and right at the top of your jump release the ball. It should look fairly similar to a real life shooter so you can see if your doing it right.
If you are looking to steal its always a good idea to double team. Have your player always poking at the ball. You might get called for a foul on this but if you are persistant you should get a steal. Another way to make steals (the cheap way) is to anticipate the computer's move. Right before the ball goes to another player, give the player a quick shot (circle button) and he should go off balance. Then pick up the ball and run. Double teaming is key in blocking. The player you control should always be chasing the ball. If your defense is good enough, the shot clock should be down to about 10 and then the computer tries a bad shot. The Point guard or the Shooting guard will try to shoot a three. You have to anticipate this move. They usually shoot it with 2 left on the clock, so be ready to cap him. Be careful though, don't use your Center or Power Forward to chase the ball around because the lane will be wide open for a dunk. Get back on defense, especially if you are playing the Power Forward position. The Power Forward for the computer always goes deep and has an open lane for a dunk. Just like in real basketball you need to stop the ball when they are threatening on a fast break.
The key to this mode is rhythm and precise shot release, especially on the harder levels. Right when you jump to shoot, half a second later you must release your shot. Play around with this until you make one or two, and then you must keep this rhythm. On superstar, if you are a little early or behind on your realease you will miss the shot.
We all know the GMs in this league are not real GMs and they won't get offended or annoyed at your offers. The key to this mode is to give up as little as possible. Try your worst offer first and see how they stand. If they agree to a deal like : McCloud, Pippen and Van Exel for Olajuwan and Barkley, try to take away a player like McCloud and see what they think. In the long run it will help your team to have more guys that are available to trade.
Well there are some tips that will get you on your way to mastering Live 99. Once I find some codes I will make sure to put them up, and if I have any other tips or hints I will put them up here soon. |
