" Something About Me "

Hofkirchen   Originally I came from a town called Hofkirchen, Germany. Its a small town by the Danube River, about 20 km from the town of Vilshofen, which is not located far from Passau near the Austrian border. Hofkirchen is in the German State of  Bayern , ( Baveria ). It's really a nice place and I do still have some fond memories from there. It's not a big place. You can see Hofkirchen in the picture on the left , but it has been there since about 1265, in some form or
Logoanother. We then moved to Columbus, Ga. I grew up there, went to school there, went to Kendrick High School after which I joined the military. First to Lackland AFB, Texas for basic training and then to school at Chanute AFB, by Rantoul Illinios. Was then assigned to Robins AFB, Georgia. Then off to Korea, where I met my wife and married while with the military at Osan AB, South Korea. From there we were sent to RAF Bentwaters, near Woodbridge Town in Suffolk , England. It was a nice country to live in, lot of history , things to see and of course
the Pubs. Picked up a new hobby when there, metal detecting, and almost anywhere you went, when you could , you would find something. Found many roman and medival coins and things. It also offered some relaxation from the dialy military grind. From England we moved to Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas.Though San Antonio had lots to do , to go anywhere else you had to drive for hours. Once you seen the Alamo, you seen it all there. But that was many years ago. Then we moved to Grissom AFB near Peru, Indiana. Then finally the base was closed and the military brought us to the Charleston area, Charleston Air Force Base in particular, though no longer in the military. We live in Summerville, SC. It is about 20 miles NW of Charleston, SC.Summerville is a nice quiet little town in the pines, though I am not particularly fond of pines trees, they seem to be protected here. As it is a way from the ocean it tends to be warmer in the summer and cooler in the
winter then along the coast. As for snow, haven't seen any yet since I have been here, though I have heard rumors that it has snowed here, so I am content to watch it on the news and if I really need to see some I will buy an ice cone. Though I miss it at times, the snow, but not shoveling or driving in it. sumvilleIf it really snowed here this place would have to shut down. kind of like the laid back atmosphere of the place.Though I think the area is growing too rapidly and without any planning. Summerville still has that small town look and feel, at least in the town center, though it is spreading out, sigh, progress. Still it's far enough away from Charleston to keep its own identity and its own flavor. Yet close enough to the beaches and the other things the Charleston area has to offer. And one of the nice things of living here is the ocean, I do like to take walks on the beach , specially during the off season, when yo can have it all to yourself almost. It's been home for the last four years and kind of grows on you. I have two
Battery sons, one attends Trident Technical College and one is the US Air Force. Some of my interests or hobbies if you like are..... I like to draw, or used to, fishing when I can, I am a collector of sorts, Coins, Books, Comics, Mugs (And I hardly drink coffee), Matchbox Cars, Roman coins, Stamps ( though realy not active in it), Glass Insulators, also like to make clocks out of old hard drives and offer for sale for those interested, will put up a site for them soon....

If you like to see some pictures of some of the places I have been to click on the country below.
