The Universal Translator Assistant Project using the technology of today to bring the theories of yesterday to the languages of tomorrow
Perl TK/Directions for UTA Using Perl/TK, I've added a graphical interface to the WEBible Explorer, along with UTA functionality. To use, you need to do 3 things: 1. Download, WEBible - set it up in a directory - call it WEBible 2. Download UTA - set it up in the WEBible directory 3. Install the "bible.pl" perl program in the WEBible directory. At this point we assume you have Perl 5 and Perl/tk installed. Sorry - I don't have a neat install set up yet; you'll need to know how to use these things. Also assumed is that your search path INCLUDES the WEBible directory. Given all of the above, executing the program bible.pl ("perl bible.pl") will give you screens that look something like this:
Press the "Translate" button for a fast UTA 'translation' NOTE the "language:" can be "tlhingan, vulcan, or rom". Actually any valid uta .lng file is accepted and should be in the WEBible directory
Want to use UTA to translate on the fly? Press the UTA button: (again note that you can choose other languages for the UTA program to use - any valid .lng file will work.)
and finally, call up a "notes" scratchpad for jotting notes while doing your research:
