Tour of Covered Bridges of Ashtabula County, Ohio

The authors offer no guarantees to its current accuracy. Ashtabula County posts signs pointing to its bridges. It also posts some "tour" signs that relate to tours from Jefferson (from its Festival). Those "tour" signs should be ignored if you are following this tour.
From the I-90 interchange south of Geneva, go less than a quarter mile south on OH534 to the first road south of the I-90 interchange. Go right on Old Harpersfield Road to Harpersfield. Cross OH307 and go down a hill to Harpersfield CB#35-04-19.
Return to Harpersfield and turn right on OH307 and cross over OH534. Take the second right at first cross road on Mechanicsville Road. Mechanicsville Road CB#35-04-18, is bypassed on the left, but autos may drive through it.
Continue south for about five and a half miles and turn left on Riverdale Road to Riverdale Road CB#35-04-22.
Continue east to OH45. Turn left on OH45 for about seven and a half miles through Austinburg to next cross road. Turn right on Clay Street for about three and a third miles, and turn right on Doyle Road to Doyle Road CB#35-04-16.
Continue south to OH307. Turn left to Jefferson and go straight ahead on OH167. At the first curve, turn left on to Jones Road and take second left on Giddings Road to Giddings Road CB#35-04-62.
Continue north to Griggs Road. Turn right over OH11 to Griggs Corners. Turn left on Brown Road. Soon after Brown Road curves to the left (at the second curve), turn RIGHT on Sheffield Road for about one and three quarters miles. Turn left on Benetka Road for about one and three quarters miles to Benetka Road CB#35-04-12.
Continue north and turn left on Plymouth Ridge Road for about two miles across I-90 and across the Ashtabula River. Then take the first right on Rockwell Road. Note the building on the right that looks like a covered bridge. After about half a mile, Rockwell Road curves sharply right. Wher it curves sharply left a short distance later, go straight ahead on Dewey Road to Olin CB#35-04-03.
Continue east on Dewey Road. A short distance up the hill, the house on the right now operates as the Olin Covered Bridge Museum. It houses the collection of covered bridge items collected by Mrs. Naomi Olin Bottorf during her lifetime (and some more added since the museum opened). If the museum is closed you can call (440)992-7401 for a possible personalized tour. (In 2006, the suggested donation was $2.)
Continue east On Dewey Road and turn left at the "T" on Dibble Road to OH84.
Note: To check the progress on the new "Bridge 17" being built over the Ashtabula River near Ashtabula, you can turn left on to OH84 to Ashtabula. Where OH84 turns right on State Road, turn LEFT on State Road. Construction was started in 2006. Return on OH84 to Kingsville to resume this tour.
Turn right on OH84 to Kingsville and turn left on OH193. After a short distance, LOOK FOR Creek Road on the right. If you are not interested in seeing the Covered Bridge Pizza Parlor mentioned in the next paragraph, turn right on Creek Road.
To see a portion of the former Forman Road CB which now houses a Covered Bridge Pizza Parlor, continue north on OH193 for about a mile to North Kingsville. CB Pizza is on the left, just before the traffic signal.
After visiting the CB Pizza Parlor, return to Kingsville and turn left on Creek Road for about four miles to Creek Road CB#35-04-05.
Just beyond the bridge, at the crest of a little hill, turn right on Keefus Road over I-90 for about one and a half miles to a cross road. Turn left on South Ridge Road to OH7. Continue across OH7 for another mile and turn right on Middle Road to Middle Road CB#35-04-06.
Continue south for a mile to a cross road and turn right on Hatches Corners Road past OH7; at a "T" turn right a short distance to State Road CB#35-04-58.
Turn around and go SOUTH on State Road to Kelloggsville. Continue straight ahead on Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road for about one and three quarters miles and turn left on Root Road a short distance to Root Road CB#35-04-09.
Continue south on Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road about three and three quarters miles and turn left on Graham Road. After a third of a mile look for Graham Road CB#35-04-13 bypassed on the right in a small county park.
Continue east on Graham Road about two and one third miles to OH7, turn right on OH7 for a mile and, at the junction with OH167, turn RIGHT on Caine Road to Caine Road CB#35-04-61.
Continue west on Caine Road and turn left on Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road for about three more miles. Turn right at a curve on to South Denmark Road. After three and a half miles, look for South Denmark Road CB#35-04-14 bypassed on the LEFT. The bypassed bridge is passable to autos, but not trucks or busses.
Continue west on South Denmark Road over OH11 toward Jefferson. After less than two miles, shortly before South Denmark Road stops at a "T" turn RIGHT on Netcher Road a short distance to Netcher Road CB.
Turn around and continue on South Denmark Road to Jefferson. At Jefferson, turn left on OH46 and go south 14 miles to US322.
Note: If you want to see the other half of the old Forman CB as a Pizza Shop, you can turn left on US6 to Andover and look for the pizza shop on the right there.
Turn right on US322 for eight and three quarters miles to Windsor Mills. Continue on US322 for another mile and a half and turn left on Warner Hollow Road. As Warner Hollow Road curves to the left, look for the Warner Hollow CB#35-04-25 on Covered Bridge Lane to the right. This concludes the Ashtabula County tour of covered bridges.
Note: A new covered bridge has been built on a rails-to-trails right of way about one and three fourths miles northwest of Middlefield in Geauga County.
