Tour of Covered Bridges of Brown, Clinton & Clermont Counties, Ohio

Go west from Aberdeen on US52-62-68 to Ripley. Turn right on US62-68 for 6 miles up out of the valley. Turn right on US62 through Russellville to the Appalachian Highway=OH32

Turn LEFT on OH32 for about 5 miles and then turn RIGHT on OH134 north to Lynchburg. In Lynchburg, turn left on High Street to get to CB#35-14-11/35-36-06 on the Clinton/Highland County Line. This Long truss CB used to show evidence of the two-county maintenance.

Continue north on OH134 to OH28. Turn LEFT on OH28 for 1.8 miles through Martinsville and then turn right on Clinton County 14/Martinsville Road to MKP CB#35-14-09.

Take LEFT fork at bridge on Clinton County 57 and turn LEFT after about a mile on Hunter Road to return to OH28. Turn RIGHT on OH28 to Midland City. Turn LEFT on US68 through Fayetteville to Chasetown. Just beyond OH131, turn RIGHT on McCafferty Road (and RIGHT at "T") to McCafferty CB#35-08-08. This is another Howe truss Brown County CB.

Just beyond the bridge, turn LEFT on US50 through Marathon and Owensville. Less than a mile past the junction with OH222, turn RIGHT on Clermont County 116/Stonelick-Williams Corner Road to Perintown/Stonelick CB#35-13-02. This last public CB in Clermont County has a Howe truss.

Continue on County Road 116 to OH132. Turn LEFT on OH132 for a short distance and then, at a crossroads, turn RIGHT on OH131 through Newtonsville and Veracruz back to US68. Turn RIGHT on US68 to Mt. Orab. Turn LEFT at the main crossroads in Mt. Orab and go parallel to the railroad tracks east of town to the village of White Oak. At the first crossroad, turn RIGHT on New Hope-White Oak Station Road to Brown CB#35-08-04.

Continue through the village of New Hope to US68 and turn LEFT a short distance to Newhope/Bethel Road CB#35-08-05. This bypassed Howe-truss CB is visible from US68.

Continue south on US68 and then continue on US62-68 for about three miles. Turn left on North Pole Road to North Pole CB#35-08-23 (which was damaged in the floods of 1997).

Continue on North Pole Road (if passable) to a "T" and go LEFT at the "T" on Scoffield Road to OH763. (Note: There is no Scoffield Road CB anymore!) Turn right on OH763 to OH41. Turn right on OH41 to return to Aberdeen.
