Start at I-75 Exit 78 and go south on County Road 25A for a mile and a half . Turn left on Eldean Road to Eldean CB#35-55-01. Park in the parking area of the small park. [Eldean is the name of the B&O Railroad station located just west of C25A.]

Return to County Road 25A and go north on I-75 again to US36.  Turn right on US 36 for six miles to Fletcher.  Turn left at the first traffic signal for a block and turn right on Mulberry Street to the Fletcher CB#35-55-103, where a Smith truss covers a concrete and asphalt deck.

Turn left at the cemetery on to Casstown-Fletcher Road, which continues as Frazier-Guy Road in Shelby County.  (CAUTION:  Slow down for the curves on the otherwise straight road!) After about seven miles, turn left at a "T" on to Deam Road for a half mile.  Turn right on Knoop-Johnston Road for another half mile and turn left on McClosky School Road for a quarter mile.  Turn right on the next segment of Knoop-Johnston Road for two miles to SR 29.  Turn left on SR 29 into Sidney.  Turn right twice at the courthouse to take SR 47 east.  (Note: Brooklyn Avenue is a possible shortcut if you don't want to see the courthouse.)  Just past Brooklyn Avenue turn right into Tawawa Park if you want to look for Ross [replica] CB#35-75-A. A picnic lunch is possible here and restrooms are available if the park is open.

Return to SR 47 and turn right through Port Jefferson to Logansville. At Logansville, turn left on Logan County 24. Just outside Logansville, turn left on Logan County 21 and across an old iron truss bridge. After about three miles, turn right on Township Road 59. Turn right on Logan County 13 to McColly CB#35-46-01. [Do not disturb the farmer's crops in your eagerness to get a picture of this bridge!]

Continue on Logan County 13 through the bridge to SR 235. Turn left on SR 235 across the Greenville Treaty Line that was supposed to separate the settlers from the Indians for awhile. At a Honda plant, turn right on SR 708 to Russells Point. Continue across US 33 a short distance to SR 366 and turn right on SR 366 for about 2½ miles. Turn left on Logan County 38 to Bickham CB#35-46-03.

If you take the left fork beyond the bridge (e.g., to park), turn right at the first crossroad on T96 to a "T"; jog right on T38 and then left on Logan County 96 to SR 117. If you turn right after Bickham Bridge, turn right on Logan County 96 to SR 117.

Turn right on SR 117 through Huntsville and take US 33 south past Bellefontaine. [Campbell Hill (Elevation 1533 feet), near the interchange with SR 540, is the highest point in Ohio.]

[Note that the Big Darby Plains Scenic Byway has been designated as a way to connect the six covered bridges of Union County.  These include two new ones that were dedicated in June 2007 and the former Upper Darby CB#35-80-01 which was moved to a trail.  The Byway starts at the FIRST "Honda Parkway" exit. It had signs installed at intersections so that you could follow the signs and ignore this tour to reach Dublin.  This tour approximates the Byway but deviates twice in order to drive past the main Honda plant and drive through the new Buck Run Road CB, and it skips the Byway at Unionville Center after all the covered bridges have been seen.]

Continue on US33 past the main Honda Plant and exit at the second "Honda Parkway" exit. At this exit, turn right on C161 = Darby-Pottersburg Road for about two miles. At the "T" turn right on T167 = West Darby Road for about a half mile and then turn left on C164 = Lewisburg Road to the new Upper Darby CB#35-80-61  (Caution: Some roads in this area are subject to flooding after heavy rains.)

Just beyond the bridge, turn left on C163 = Inskeep-Crotty Road .  Look ahead and you can see the old Upper Darby or Pottersburg CB#35-80-01M on a trail just to the right of this road..

Continue on on C163 = Inskeep-Crotty Road to Spain Creek CB#35-80-02. Go through the bridge to SR 245.

Turn left on SR245 for about a mile and a half and then turn right on C75 = North Darby Road for about a mile and a half to Buck Run Road.   Turn right on Buck Run Road a short distance to the new Buck Run Road CB#35-80-62.

Continuie through the bridge and take the first left on Middleburg-Plain City Road for about four miles to Milford Center. At Milford Center, turn right on SR 4 & US 36. After a couple of miles, and shortly before the split of SR 4 & US 36, turn left on C86 = Homer Road. After a half mile turn left on Winget Road to Winget Road CB#35-80-03 across Treacle Creek.

If the water's not too high, you can use the wet/dry ford to turn around on this dead-end road and return to Homer Road. Turn left on Homer Road to SR 161. Turn left on SR 161 and look for Axe Handle Road on left on the other side of farm buildings. Bigelow CB #35-80-04 crosses Little Darby Creek just north of SR 161.

Continue east on SR 161 (or follow the Byway signs) to Dublin.  A "new" Town lattice covered bridge has been built on the Franklin County Fairgrounds at Hilliard.  To find it, go south on Avery Road to Hilliard and look for the Fairgrounds on the left in Hilliard.

This tour, based on 1986 NSPCB COVERED BRIDGE SAFARI TOUR #5, was last edited 26 June 2007.

If you are traveling from west to east across Ohio you can go from Dublin or Hilliard around I-270 to I-71 north from Columbus and start the tour of Delaware, Licking, and Coshocton County bridges at SR 61 exit.
