From the OH-IN line near Richmond, go southeast on West Eaton Pike to New Westville. Continue straight ahead on SR 320 to US 35. Turn right on US 35 to the first crossroad. Turn right on C14 = West Florence-Campbellstown Road through Campbellstown to West Florence. At SR 122 jog left and then right on T256 = Dove Road to a "T'. Turn right on T242 = Dixon Road for a half mile and take the first left on T218 = Concord-Fairhaven Road to Harshman CB#35-68-03.
Just beyond this bridge, take the left fork on C18 = California School Road to a "T"; turn right on C14 = Wyatt Road and continue straight on SR 732 past Hueston Woods to Pugh's Mill CB#35-09-03BI^. Access to the bridge is via Corso Road, which intersects SR 732 south of the bypassed bridge.
Return to SR 732 and go south to Oxford. Follow SR 732 to its junction with SR 129. Turn right on SR 129 for about two miles. At the first cross road, turn left on California Road to SR 126. Turn right on SR 126 for a short distance and then turn left on the road into Governor Bebb Park. See the reconstructed CB#35-09-02MMIB^. Outhouses and picnic tables are located beyond the pioneer village, which includes the home of former Ohio Governor William Bebb. Most of the parking spaces are located beyond the bridge.
Return to SR 126 and turn left to Scipio. Continue straight ahead on SR 252 to Mt. Carmel, Indiana. [Note the old schoolhouse general store at Mount Carmel.] At crossroad, turn left on 800E = Mt. Carmel-Springfield Road. Continue on Johnson Fork Road to Snow Hill CB#14-24-09^.
Continue on Johnson Fork Road under I-74 to old US 52. Turn right at the "T" on to old US 52 and then left on SR 46 across the Whitewater River. Look for the Covered Bridge Inn on the right. (It does not open until 4 o'clock. It has a covered bridge mural and a popular buffet if you are interested in stopping on the way back to Richmond.)
Continue to SR 1. Turn left on SR 1 to Guilford CB#14-15-01#2, which provides access to the parking area in a park. The Burr truss appears to have been modified to form X's similar to a Long truss with an arch.
Take the road through Guilford to a "T". Turn right on Dover-Dearborn Road to return to Dover and SR 1. Turn left on SR 1 and then right on SR 46 if you wish to return to the Covered Bridge Inn. Otherwise, take SR 1 north to I-70 and go east to Richmond. [CAUTION: SR 1 has a steep hill with a 15% grade north of SR 46. Some congestion and turns should be expected in going through Brookville and Connersville.]
This tour, based on 1986 NSPCB COVERED BRIDGE SAFARI TOUR #4, was last edited 13 May 1998. The letters and other symbols following the bridge numbers were an attempt to classify deviations from authenticity of the covered bridges. Each symbol after the bridge number represents an additional departure from authenticity.
