Tour of Covered Bridges of Wyandot, Sandusky, Cuyahoga & Summit Counties, Ohio

The authors offer no guarantees to its current accuracy. This tour starts near the former home of the Wyandot Indians and ends near the current home of the Cleveland Indians.
Start at Little Sandusky at the junction of US23 and OH294 south of Upper Sandusky.. Go east on OH294 for two miles. Turn left on Co. Rd. 130 to Swartz CB#35-88-05.
Continue north to the end of the road and turn left to US23. Turn right on US23 to the interchange with US30. Exit the freeway and turn left on old US30N past the junction with OH182 and over the Sandusky River to Harrison-Smith Park on the left. In this park is a replica covered bridge and some picnic tables. Continue on old US30N into Upper Sandusky and turn right on OH67. Continue across US23 on OH67 a short distance and turn right on OH67 then where OH67 curves left turn right on Co. Rd. 47 to Indian Mill Park. The covered bridge formerly at this location was washed out in the 1913 flood, replaced with an iron bridge which is now historic. Take the left fork before the iron bridge to return to OH67. Turn right on OH67 and look for a sign for "Parker Bridge" at which turn left on T37. Look on the left side of the road for the Tarhe Monument at the site of the Wyandot Indians' Crane Town. A short distance north of the Tarhe monument take the first right on T40 to Parker CB#35-88-03.
Continue north on T40 by noting that it goes left at two stop signs. When it reaches Co. Rd. 37 turn left across Broken Sword Creek and immediately right on Co. Rd. 29 to OH53. Turn right on OH53 through Tiffin into Sandusky County. Turn left on Co. Rd. 9, which is the first road north of the county line. (There is a little cemetery on the right side of OH53 at this point.) Continue west on Co. Rd. 9 for about a mile to Mull CB#35-72-01, which is bypassed on the left side of the road.
Continue on Co. Rd. 9 a short distance to a "T"; turn right on T118 to OH12. Turn right on OH12 and left on OH53 to the Fremont bypass. Continue east on US6 toward Sandusky. Enter the OH2 freeway east and proceed toward Elyria and Cleveland. At Bay Village exit the freeway and go south on OH252 to OH10. Jog right on OH10 and left on OH252 to Olmsted Falls. Where OH252 turns right in downtown Olmsted Falls, turn left to park near the new Charles Harding Memorial CB#35-18-25 in a park setting.
Continue south on OH252 to OH303. Turn left on OH303 to Summit County. At Richfield turn right on OH176 and continue straight ahead on Wheatley Road to Everett Road. The Everett Road CB#35-77-01 spans Furnace Run (the same stream that Wheatley Road follows down the hill).
To drive close to the bridge, turn right on Everett Road at its junction with Wheatley Road and turn left on Oak Hill Road toward Hale Farm.. To find the parking lot for the bridge go straight ahead on Everett Road at its junction with Wheatley Road and look for the parking area and bridge on the right.
Continue east on Everett Road to Everett. Turn left on Riverview Road through Peninsula. Take the left fork at Vaughn Road. Turn right on Brookside and left on Pleasant Valley Road over Riverview. Turn right on OH21=Brecksville Road and continue north on I-77 to complete this tour at Jacobs Field, the home of the Cleveland Indians.
