Doc Savage Conventions and informal or formal Gatherings of Bronze are
growing in popularity. Just over ten years ago, very few Doc fans had ever met
one another and unless someone had a childhood friend who read Doc Savage,
they probably were going their course alone. The sole means of information
was through fanzines and the letter's section of Doc Savage comic books.
These glimpses into other fans perspectives were exciting at the time but they
were hardly comprehensive or rewarding.

Still isolated, fans began to recognize the names of contributors to The Bronze
Gazette and hang on every reference to new items mentioned in the comic
book letters. Now, fans knew that they were not alone in their enthusiasm but
they still had no means of sharing their passion. Then along came the internet
and a medium was born for communicating with other fans. Soon, fans of Doc
Savage began to organize get-togethers.

Two intrepid organizers emerged in the early nineties. Bob Jenson on the West
coast and Cat Jaster (Frozencat) in the East. Rob Smalley picked up the
mantel in 1998 and invited everyone to attend when he organized his annual
Doc Con gathering.

Each year, Doc Savage fans have an opportunity to meet at any of these
