THE 24 MINUTE MINI-COMIC

A side project of Just 1 Page, 26 artists combined to produce 24 pages plus cover in 25 minutes !

And we’re going to do it again !

JUST 1 PAGE was launched at Bristol Comic Expo

In May 2005, at the Comics Expo in Bristol (comicexpo.net), the third Just 1 Page charity comic magazine was published to raise money for the Childline Charity.

Here is how we invited contributions.

All profits from sales of the magazine and all proceeds of the auctions of the original art will go to Childline www.childline.org.uk.

You can take part in the Just 1 Page magazine whether you are an established pro, a small-press giant, someone attempting to make a break in the industry, an amateur, or a fan. You do not even have to be British or to be attending the Comics Expo. All you have to do is donate a page of comic art to benefit the UK's CHILDLINE charity.

Contributions are invited for next year – just one page of comic art, which can be a one-page strip, a convention sketch or a pin-up page – whatever you can spare the time for.
It does not have to be a new piece of art produced for this project.

A4 sized art is all we need (around 210mm x 297mm, US letter size = 8.5" x 11")
but you can also send an electronic scan 150dpi minimum quality.

Although computer art is welcome, pencil, inks or paints on paper will be prioritised for a place in the magazine.

For more info on how to contribute art, buy a copy, or keep informed of the auctions, contact Adrian Brownjust1page@aol.com

This year, Just 1 Page 3 has eighty pages of comic art and articles related to the theme:

BEST BATTLES or GREATEST TEAM UPS

HULK v THE THING,
DENNIS v
Walter,
BATMAN v
TRANSFORMERS,
CONSTANTINE v DR STRANGE,
SID THE SEXIST v The 4 MARYS,
BILLY THE FISH v ROY OF THE ROVERS,
RUPERT v BIFFO v POOH !
WARREN ELLIS v JOHN BYRNE,
The FANTASTIC FOUR v The INCREDIBLES.

Here are the instructions that contributors to Just 1 Page 3 were given.

The theme is crossovers, and characters chosen can be from any comic books:
classic team-ups such as Namor and Human Torch or Batman and Superman,
or unusual pairings such as Archie the Robot and Archie & Jughead.

The crossover is a staple of the comics industry (more common than staples, come to think of it) and fans love to see hero versus villain or hero versus hero
– usually due to a misunderstanding … and they end up fighting together !
For Just 1 Page 3, we want to see classic or bizarre pairings – or even bigger team-ups !

Do what you want with that theme !

(But please let me know which characters you plan to use,
because we don’t want 100 pages of X Men versus The Bash Street Kids !)

Sequential Tart, Newsarama and Millarworld’s Mostly Wanted have interviews about Just 1 Page 2.

Richard Johnston’s Lying in the Gutters gave us loads of coverage last year
but now he is retiring to raise a family, so you'll have to find out about Just 1 Page 3 at this website. PLEASE CHECK REGULARLY !

History of Just 1 Page
In 2004, Just 1 Page 2 raised £800 for The Trinity Hospice in Clapham.
In 2001, the first Just 1 Page comic raised around £500 ($800) for CBLDF and Comic Relief.

Just 1 Page is a collaboration of artists and writers from the whole range of the comics community – focussing on, but not limited to British comics. Each contributor sends just one page featuring a character with a connection to the theme – this year it is team-ups and best battles. All contributors give their time and art free of charge.

The magazine contains pin-ups, strips and text articles - covering the whole range of comics from action to comedy, from sci-fi to soccer, from Spider-Man to Sid the Sexist, from Desperate Dan to Judge Dredd.
And MANY MORE.

J1P2 costs FIVE POUNDS for a 72 page magazine, and you can be sure that at least two pounds from every copy will go to the charity. (Now that the printing costs have been covered, even more of your fiver will go to the charity.)

J1P3 will cost around the same price if you buy it at the Comic Expo in May, but we hope it will have 100 pages !

Pros who previously donated original art include Bryan Talbot, Phil Winslade, Brian Wood, Jock, Al Davison, Charlie Adlard, Gary Northfield, Paul J Holden, Steve Pugh, Paul Ridgon, Peter Gross, Mike Hawthorne, Dave Windett, Gary Spencer Millidge, Trevor Hairsine, Len O’Grady, Adi Tantimedh, and Hunt Emerson

Others who have contributed text or otherwise include Leo Baxendale, Bryan Talbot, Chris Weston, Mike Carey, Rob Williams, Simon Furman, Euan Kerr, Peter Hogan, Lee “Budgie” Barnett, Warren Ellis, Steve Gerber.

There is a PAYPAL account for mail order, including overseas purchases of Just 1 Page (all prices include postage), and for auction payments later in the year. Go to the Just 1 Page shop for latest news on how to purchase … and how to pay without having to find me at Bristol.

You can also donate money towards the printing costs, by checking the SPONSORS page NOW.

Thanks to Dan Fish for help with the website, and Alex De Campi for obliquely suggesting the upgrade.
