A LETTER FROM THE WARZONE
|
Dear Bobby,
Words cannot describe the feeling of suffering and despair in our hearts when you realize the loses in terms of human lives. The sadest thing is
that the people who would do evil things to hurt our country are really hurting the entire world.
When you look at the news, the victims are from all walks of life, including people from the middle east as well. This is so sad my brother, it has broken our
hearts but not our spirit and as you well know, there will be one hell of a price to pay by those who would perpetrate such crimes against our state and country.
Life will slowly return to normal, if we can ever be normal again, and the wounds will heal with time, if such a thing is possible, and we will go on as a nation.
As americans we will be more united than ever and stronger than ever. As a global village, all people of the world will be closer because this kind of thing really affects
us all.
We are grateful for our families and friends that make life worth living every day, and our hearts go out to those who have lost soo much in this great disaster.
I don't know how anyone can find the strength to go on living after losing a loved one in this type of situation, it is unthinkable.
We love you and pray for you. May god always protect you, you crazy hero!
This letter is from the warzone....
Mr. Henry Gonzalez

What A Difference A Day Makes
|
On Monday we e-mailed jokes.....On Tuesday we did not.
On Monday we thought that we were secure....On Tuesday we learned better.
On Monday we were talking about heroes as being athletes...
On Tuesday we relearned who our heroes are.
On Monday we were irritated that our rebate checks had not arrived.....
On Tuesday we gave money away to people we had never met.
On Monday there were people fighting against praying in school....
On Tuesday you would have been hard pressed to find a school where someone was not praying.
On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their room....
On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids.
On Monday people were upset that they had to wait 6 minutes in a fast food line....
On Tuesday people didn't care about waiting up to 6 hours to give blood to the dying.
On Monday we waved our flags signifying our cultural diversity....
On Tuesday we waved only the American flag.
On Monday there were people trying to separate each other by race, sex, color and creed.....On Tuesday they were all holding hands.
On Monday we were man or woman, black or white, old or young, rich or poor, gay or straight, Christian or non-Christian.....On Tuesday we were ALL Americans.
On Monday politician argued about budget surpluses.....
On Tuesday grief stricken they sang "God Bless America."
On Monday the President was going to Florida to read to children....
On Tuesday he returned to Washington to protect our children.
On Monday we had families....On Tuesday we had orphans.
On Monday people went to work as usual.....On Tuesday they died.
On Monday people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property....
On Tuesday the same people all said "God help us all" while thinking "Thou Shall Not Kill".
It is sadly ironic how it takes horrific events to place things into perspective, but it has.The lessons learned this
week, the things we have taken for granted, the things that have been forgotten or overlooked, hopefully will never be forgotten again.

Where Were You?
Almost all of us remember what we were doing the day that John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. That goes the same for September 11, 2001; the day we were attacked by terrorists. Here's how I remember that mournful day:
I got up around 7 a.m., which is normal for me. I poured my first cup of coffee and was working on web pages, as I like to do in the morning. The phone rang around 8:45 am, it was my father telling me to turn on the news. He told me that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I was flabbergasted, and thought he was kidding me.
"No way....No way!", that's all I kept saying as I turned the TV on and skipped from channel to channel.
I kept saying to my Dad that it had to be fake, a movie or something?
My father and I remained on the telephone, watching in horror, as the events in Washington were unfolding around the World Trade Center, Washington DC. We saw the first tower burning, and then we watched in awe as an airplane deliberately struck the second tower. We were both horrified! We knew it had to be an senseless act of terrorism. The news began filtering in about the Pentagon and the plane crash in Pennsylvania. We both stayed glued to the TV that entire dreadful day.
So now when someone asks what were you doing on September 11, 2001; the day that the United States of America was attacked by terrorists, you will always know because this is something that will forever be implanted in everyone's memories and souls. This is the day that thousands of innocent victims died at the hands of terrorists.
Policeman's Prayer
Oh almighty God,
Whose great power and eternal
Wisdom embraces the universe,
Watch over all Policemen and
Law Enforcement Officers.
Protect them from harm
In the performance of their duty
To stop crime, robberies,
Riots and violence.
We pray, help them keep our streets
And homes safe day and night.
We recommend them to your loving care
Because their duty is dangerous.
Grant them your unending strength and
Courage in their daily assignments.
Dear God protect these brave:
Men and Women,
Grant them your almighty protection,
Unite them safely with their
Families after duty has ended.
To Protect and To Serve
Written by: Kate Plourde E-mail: maranatha@lovekjb.com
I don't know why you chose this path
It was surely not for pay
There's no routine or certainty
That brings comfort with each day
You leave your home and take with you
Silent prayers of family
They know the dangers you will see
They pray on bended knee
Your eyes see more in just one day
Than we do in an entire year
You strive to make our homes a haven
Safe from harms way and fear
You vow To Protect and To Serve
People you don't even know
You treat them all with dignity
Despite the filth they show
The way you serve with care and honor
Reflects your reputation
You wear your badge with such great pride
And it serves as confirmation
You never know with each call you take
If this will be your last
But yet you continue to take each one
And let your doubts just pass
This is your eulogy while you yet live
To wait for your death is sad
How much we need you to keep on going
To survive in a world gone mad
OLD GLORY
She is our symbol, our rally point.
Though known by many names, She is The Flag... Old Glory.
She is representative of our country... the United States of America,
and that which makes us what we are... Americans.
Although made of material cloth, what She stands for is an ideal.
She has been used to display pride, draped majestically from many windows,
flown from countless staffs, and She has had wrapped within her gentle folds
the bodies of many of those who have died in Her honor.
Sometimes She has been used to show political displeasure...
defiled, burned, and tromped upon, not only by Her enemies, but by Her own people.
It is indicative of the ideal She stands for that allows Her abuse.
Through it all She has survived to be the symbol of freedom for the entire world!
Although familiar with internal strife and turmoil, only once in Her glorious history has
She been viciously attacked upon Her own soil.
Only once, on December 7, 1941... until now.
Now she has come under attack from another enemy within her own borders.
Now there is another date for us to remember...
September 11, 2001.
The entire world watches us now, perhaps just to see how our Nation will act.
But we do not wonder.... We know.
December 7, 1941 was a day that would define to the world
what this great nation was capable of.
September 11, 2001 will reiterate our power and unity once again.
The sleeping giant awakens once again!
May God have mercy on our enemies, for we shall have none!
God Bless the USA!
GRIEVE NOT FOR ME
~unknown author~
Grieve not for me for it has been ordained,
that my journey here be short.
Grieve not for me for my loyal presence
will ever remain in your heart.
I was sent to be a Guardian,
for the Guardians of Law in Blue.
A fearless, noble protector,
with a bond that few can construe.
With character unshakable,
and senses that are well heightened,
I was sent to be a defender,
so that your burden here would be lightened.
Grieve not for me for in heavenly blue,
our reunion day will come.
Grieve not for me for as partners again,
We will defend a greater Kingdom.
Shifts Over
Written by: David Pike
Dedicated to the firemen, policemen and emergency medical technicians
who gave their lives at World Trade Center September 11, 2001.
We watched as you pinned on your badge for the very first time.
You had trained and studied; learning what was needed to do the job
you would be called upon to do.
How you proudly stood at attention, saluting and repeating the oath,
vowing to give your all and do your best.
But now, shifts over...lie down and rest.
You left early in the morn, while we slept snug and warm
Just as often you returned in late eventide when,
long before, we had retired.
You sacrificed your rest and time that we could live and laugh
work and play, knowing we were safe, vowing to give your all and do your best.
But now, shifts over... lie down and rest.
When we called you answered, whether friend or foe, neighbor or stranger.
You risked life and limb, comfort and safety, always to ensure that we
enjoyed home and workplace, recreation and employment.
You gave of yourself dutifully to the searching faces and pleading hands
reaching to you for help; responding quickly to the slightest call,
vowing to give your all and do your best.
But now, shifts over... lie down and rest.
Now we stand, sad and somber, quietly listening to Tap's final song.
You answered the call and gave your all as you responded to the last bell of Destiny's alarm.
One last time you pinned on your badge and honored your oath;
seeing nameless faces and unknown grasping hands
You kept your vow, you gave your all, you did your very best.
But now, shifts over... lie down and rest.
AMERICA WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!
