Why does Kaminari Judo have a web site?

Why are we on the web?

To promote Judo. Judo is a beautiful sport with many spiritual aspects. I personally owe everything I have in life to Judo, from my commitment, drive and discipleship; to my family, friends and health. If it hadn't been for Jigoro Kano founding the sport of Judo, and a very special disciple of his (who reached out his hand in friendship a very long time ago) I don't know where I'd be, or what I'd be doing now. Thank you.

American corporations are missing a big opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a burgeoning athletic activity. Judo is the second most popular sport in the World, it just hasn't caught on in the United States. On average professional Judo players in Europe and Asia make more than other team professional athletes in those countries. The World Championships (in France last year) are generally sold out in less than a week; the Kano Cup tournaments are sold out in days.

If you really like my web site (i.e., the pages and how their set-up) and you or your company want to hire me to help design or architect a site for you, let me know. Who knows, all it may cost you is a set of Judo mats for my club. (Uh, that's Tatami like mats, for the competition area and jogai)

To promote Judo in North Central Massachusetts. The Leominster/Fitchburg area is picturesque throughout the year. We are central to the beaches in eastern Massachusetts, southern Rhode Island and Connecticut, and the coasts of Maine and New Hampshire. We are close to the Ski resorts of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in the winter. The weather's brisk three months of the year, and that's the way we like it. If you practice Judo and are travelling to New England let me know, or post a message on my Guest Book, someone will get back to you. You're welcome at any of the clubs were I teach, but please be prepared to show a favorite technique or two.

To raise money to buy mats for my Judo club. We have a small (10 -12 regular Juniors, 2-3 regular Seniors) club with the Leominster Recreation department (and at Nautilus Plus in Billerica.) Because our sport is placed within schools we must pay the custodians to sweep the floor after us. (No, we don't make a mess! In fact, in one of the schools -- because we were in the cafeteria -- we actually swept the floor before we started.) It is next to impossible to make the sport accessible to all children, and charge enough to cover buying Mats and paying custodians.

We aren't providing investment information (other than asking for donations for Judo mats), no stock tips, no mutual fund advice. However, if you donate enough money for us to buy one Judo mat I'll stencil your name, or that of your company in one inch Block letters on the top of the Mat. If you or your company donate enough for us to buy a full set of Tatami mats I'll not only stencil your name on each one, as above. But I'll stencil your logo or name in larger text on the two mats that we would set-up in the center. This is an investment that would last at least five years for you, and for the lifetime of the children we serve.
