Hello friends,
I’m writing to tell you that I’ve joined a cult and I won’t be coming back. This cult believes that God created all things. He then humbly came down to earth in the form of a man not to condemn us but to save us from being slaves to sin and death. While on earth this man performed many miracles, taught us how to live Godly lives, was executed by his people, and after he conquered death he came back to life and walked out of his grave. I know it sounds crazy but everyone in my cult honestly believes this is true! Since my cult considers this man to be God in the flesh we believe that the promises he made to be true. This cult I’m in is called Christianity and it is what this great country was built upon. You may have heard of it before.
What caused me to join this cult? For years God was speaking to me and I wasn’t listening. For years (and without my knowledge) my wife prayed for me to become a believer. For years I went through the motions of going to church to please my wife until finally one day I began to truly seek God. I began to read the Bible, I began to listen to God, and He revealed much of his purpose to me.
Over the past year I have given thought to why there are so many non-Christians. I had to think back to prior years on how I had previously thought about Christianity. The following describes what I think some of the issues are for non-Christians and what the answers are. Please read through this and let me know if you have any questions or comments or if there are other issues you would like for me to address.

What I believe
I believe that our forefathers founded this great nation based on their true belief in Christianity. Therefore, I believe that the reason our country is great is because of Christianity. When you look at any other country based on any other religion you will find that they have not been blessed by God like we have. I think most Americans have become lazy and have denied Christ out of convenience. It is more convenient to put our faith in the ways of man. I believe God has turned his attention to those that seek him and that his benefits on earth shine on both the righteous and the wicked (Mathew 5:45). In other words, a lot of non-Christians today benefit from being in a country built on Christianity and from being around Christians. But the benefit for the non-believers is a false sense of comfort for them and has no real substance. Their benefits are short term in that they are restricted to this short life on earth.
I believe that God is all-powerful and all-knowing. God knew in advance the events of 9/11/01 and did nothing to prevent it. I believe he allowed it to happen as a punishment to Americans.
“How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave me heed when I stretched out my hand, since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you – when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. They will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and will be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” - Proverbs 1:22-33
My wife was in New York City the week before the attack and came home telling me that this was a city in serious need of revival. God showed her a sidewalk preacher who was attempting to save souls by handing out literature. He was all but invisible to the scores of people walking past him. Less than a week later the terrorists destroyed the twin towers.
I believe that God often does miraculous things for people that believe, such as physical healings. I believe missionaries witness events that can only be attributed to God when they preach the Gospel in foreign countries. Likewise, I believe God does little for many in this country who are living in a “non-believing” trance that they have no desire to snap out of. For those that do not seek Him rarely find Him.

Rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

I would ask for all of those who are still skeptical to begin the search in earnest because if you look you will find.
Thanks be to God as he deserves all the glory and the praise for what he has made is good. I am encouraged by the growing strength of spirituality in my wife, father, youngest son, and many friends. I know God is working on many in our lives too. May God bless you all.
