Meet the Instructors
Ray Killen

Ray as most people recognize him
 | Ray has been Sea Kayaking since 1988
and has paddled New Jersey, New York, Conn., Rhode Island, Delaware, Virginia, Lake
Superior and Florida and in the tidal races on the coast of
Anglesey, Wales. He has been a volunteer Sea Kayak Instructor with New Jerseys Ocean
County Parks and Recreation since 1992. He has also been a volunteer Sea Kayak Instructor
with the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program.

 | With the British Canoe Union he
holds a 4 star rating, the Canoe Safety Award and is a Certified Level 3 Coach.

 | Ray is a Certified Coastal Kayak
Instructor Trainer Educator with the American Canoe Association, the ACA Coastal
Kayaking Committee Chair and has written the curriculum for the ACA Intro to Traditional
Kayak Skills course and Instructor Endorsement.

 | Ray has had extensive training in Moving water,
Rescue scenarios, Towing methods, Tidal Races and kayak surfing among others. |

Margaret Killen
 
 | Margaret has been Sea
Kayaking since 1987 She has paddled all over New Jersey and in Maine, Conn., Rhode Island,
Delaware, Lake Superior and Florida and Anglesey, Wales.

 | She has been a volunteer Sea Kayak Instructor with NJ Ocean
County Parks and Recreation since 1993. She has also been a volunteer Sea Kayak Instructor
with the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program.

 | Margaret is a Certified Coastal Kayak
Instructor with the American Canoe Association
|
 | Margaret also holds a 4 star rating with the British Canoe Union
and is a certified BCU Coach 2 . She has had training in Rescues, Towing, Tidal races,
whitewater and kayak surfing among others.
|
Both Ray and his wife Margaret perform rolling
exhibitions at various events. These consist of over 25 different Greenland style rolls
and trick rolls. Their performance is always a crowd pleaser.
