We will cover the basics of navigation; definitions, latitude and longitude, charts, variation, lights and buoys. You will practice some chart work. You will learn about the compass; taking bearings and establishing headings. You will also learn about the Nav-AidTM. Do workshop problems. You will learn about tides and currents The rule of twelfths, how to use Eldridge and how to do ferry angle calculations. Workshop practice. Finally learn about putting it all together. Paddle Making Make a traditional style of Greenland paddle. Or make a Storm paddle to use as your spare. This is a one day workshop. You will go home with a paddle that you made yourself along with the knowledge of how to make them. You may never stop. Your house will fill up with paddles. Once youve discovered for yourself how well Greenland paddles work, you will want to encourage everyone to give them a try. Remember who originated the ocean going kayak and paddle in the first place.
