John 20:21-23 "Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so I send you. And when He said this he breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."

How The World Got the Bible

The World owes its debt to the Catholic Church for giving it the best selling book of all time, the Holy Bible. Our Blessed Lord, came into this world and founded One Church. His words are clear in Matthew 16:18, "You are Peter and upon this Rock I will build My Church...and the Gates of hell will not prevail against it."

In 381 at the Synod of Rome Pope St. Damasus commissioned St. Jerome to translate the Bible into Latin. His finished work became known as the Latin Vulgate Bible; the first Bible as we know it. The Council of Rome approved the Canon of the Bible and Pope St. Damasus, the successor of St. Peter, the Vicar of Christ, wrote a decree listing the Books of the Bible that would be identical to Trent's Canon some 1100 years later.

In 393 at the Synod of Hippo The Catholic Church approved a list of Old and New Testament Books as we know them today, and hence the world had the Bible. The Catholic Church, founded by Jesus, predates the Bible as we know it almost 400 years. Remember Jesus said to the Apostles, our First Bishops, "He who hears you hears Me." He did not write anything in the Bible nor was the Bible ever meant to be the Rule of Faith. The Bible itself proclaims the Church to have authority given her by Our Blessed Lord.
1 Tim 3:15 "But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth."

You can share in our ministry by signing our Guestbooks. Many fallen away Catholics look through the Guestbooks to see what others have to say. Help bring them home, take 2 minutes and sign the book, you could be the one Jesus uses to touch one's heart and bring them back to HIM in the Holy Eucharist
