Ken Brown is a distinguished classical guitarist whose
repertoire embraces music from Latin America as well as jazz and contemporary
styles. His versatility and creativity combine to make him a sought-after
musical talent. Ken's experience includes many successful concert appearances
locally and elsewhere. In addition, he has played for weddings, fine restaurants,
and conventions.
As a way of supporting the community Ken
has played numerous benefit concerts.
He is a well known
Bay Area music instructor. After succeeding Soundboard editor Peter Danner
as head of the guitar department at Menlo College until the music department
was cut, he now teaches privately at his studio in Menlo Park, California.
Ken has studied with
many of the most influential masters of the classic guitar, including Andres Segovia. and Pepe Romero along
with several of the jazz guitar greats like Joe Pass, Barney Kessel,
Laurindo
Almeida, Jorge
Morel and Howard
Roberts.
I'm available as part of many duo combinations!
I feel the duo
is the true expression for jazz, when two musicians get together and talk
. .. and the vocabulary consists of rhythm, and harmony, and the form of
music.

This is the style of jazz that I'm very into these
days.
It derives from the music of Django Reinhardt.
