In his final Marshall game, Byron Leftwich left a legacy at Marshall while becoming the  first NCAA QB to pass for 4 TDs in 2 bowl games in Marshall's 5th consecutive bowl victory (2nd over the Louisville Cardinals).  On an injured limb, he carved up Louisville in the 2002 GMAC Bowl. The Herd's best defensive performance of the year held Louisville to one TD till the last minute. His letter to the fans.

In the 2003 NFL Draft, Leftwich was drafted with the 7th pick of the first round to the Jacksonville Jaguars.  He is the higest  Mid-American Conference and Marshall football player ever to be drafted.
"Byron's practiced once in three weeks.  It was a tremendous effort.  I couldn't imagine any athlete anywhere doing what he did, playing on one foot."

Stan Hill: New Herd QB
After a horrible 2-5 start by the Jets, Chad Pennington stepped in as QB, and has led the Jets to it's 2nd AFC East Title & playoff berth after going 8-4 as a starter.  He has the highest QB rating in the NFL, and had the most accurate start for any NFL QB in history. He began the playoffs with a 41-0 shutout of the Colts, while being the first Jets QB to ever do so, and he completed the longest pass of a Jets QB in the playoffs.
