Instuctions to run Blood Pressure Daily Log Print this Page for future reference. It is not required when filling out Blood Pressure Daily Log that every field be filled in. It is up to the user to determine what he or she wants to fill in. Option 1 should be run to establish the database. The results from Blood Pressure Daily Log can be given to a health team member such as a nurse, doctor, or dietitian to help you manage blood pressure. The user is responsible for what he enters and this software is only a tool for you and your health team to be able pinpoint problem areas. Once the registration form and the $25 fee is received, a disc with the latest software and documentation will sent to you in return mail. E-mail can be sent to Kennzo@AOL.com Instructions are within this document to build an Icon for Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 00, XP. BPDL.exe is the file name of the software. You can double click within File Manager or Windows Explorer to execute. The first screen will an introductory screen to continue press ENTER. Blood Pressure Daily Log The second screen will be a Menu of various options, you may Select any option. Blood Pressure Daily Log Menu 1. Post or Update Blood Pressure Daily Log 2. Standard Glucose - Averages 3. Blood Pressure Daily Log Review 4. Generate reports 5. Exit System Enter Selection: Option 1 Post or Update Blood Pressure Daily Log This is the most important screen. You should enter your daily activities here. The information entered is used by other options to generate your reports. If no data is entered here the other options will not work.You can update and modify data as you wish. Option 2 Blood Pressure Test Results This will bring you to a screen that will show you your daily blood pressure and pulse reading. Kennzo Stats are produced at the end of Blood Pressure Test Results. This is useful in showing progress from week to week or month to month. Option 3 Blood Pressure Daily Log Review. This will display the Blood Pressure Daily Log of data entered for a date range. This is used for reviewing daily data. Option 4 Generate Reports. This option will generate print reports on a File (C:\Report.wri). Option 5 Exit System This option is selected when you finished using Blood Pressure Daily Log System. This must be selected to properly close out the database.
***** Option 1 Post or Update Blood Pressure Daily Log **** The first screen you'll see in option 1 is Enter Date YYMMDD. Enter Date YYMMDD 960919 At this point the system will pre-fill the system date. If you wish to enter another date to update prior records or post other days, you may change the date. The date must be entered in the format YYMMDD. Example 930602 for June 2, 1993. Example YY = 2 characters such as 93 for 1993. Example MM = 2 character month such as 06 for June. Example DD = 2 characters such 02 for the second day of month. Press Enter after the date has been entered. The system will examine the database and indicate if a record is found or a new record will be posted. You have the option to Post or Modify data on the database. Enter Date YYMMDD 960919 Thursday 19 Sep 1996 N = Next Day P = Prior Day M = Main Menu R = Reenter Date Enter = Modify Record Enter Selection Entering N will advance the date on day. Entering P will go to prior day Entering R will return you to the date field to reenter another Date. Entering M will return you to the main menu. Enter will bring you to Blood Pressure Daily Log for Posting or Modify your data. The screen Blood Pressure Daily Log is the main area for entering your activities. Check the date on the left side of the screen to verify the date is correct. You may leave this screen by pressing Enter. It is not required that all data fields be filled in. You have the option to enter what you want, as little or as much as you want. You may come back to this date anytime to modify data. When entering data, you may use the mouse to point to the field for entering data. If you do not have a mouse, you can tab to the field. Don't worry about making an error entering data. You can return to make corrections. Some basic edits are in the software. If you do not have a blood pressure device, it may be a good idea to have it taken at a local pharmacy. Under comments you may enter whatever you want. You may want to comment on how you feel, other medication you have taken, lab results, appointments, mini diary, etc. Press Enter when your completed. The system will ask at the end of the form if your completed. If you want to go back to an item, Enter N and press Enter. The system will go to the top of Log for entering data. If you are completed for that day, Enter Y and press Enter. If the system date (which should be today) is equal to Enter date it will return to menu. The system will go to the Enter Date screen if more days have to be entered into the system. It will increase the day by one in case you have to enter multi days. You have the option to enter more days or return to the menu. Again you can use this screen as you wish.
**** Option 2 Blood Pressure Test Results **** Option 2 will ask for a date range on the screen. The system will pre-fill the date range with this months date. You may enter a range that you want to track. You enter a Start Date and End Date in the YYMMDD format. If you get a message "No data found in Date Range selected", you may try another date range by pressing continue or to return to the menu enter M and press enter. Enter Date Range (YYMMDD format) Start Date: 961001 End Date: 961015 The program will display one full screen of data and waits for you to continue by pressing Enter, or you can print the screen on the printer by pressing print screen on your keyboard. Some computers required holding shift down while pressing print screen to print the screen. If you want to return to the menu type M at the end of the screen and press Enter.
This option will let you review your Blood Pressure Daily Log for a date range. The software will display on the screen the Blood Pressure Daily Log in the sequence of the date range. When a Blood Pressure Daily Log is displayed, the system will wait for a response so you can print the screen (hold down shift & press print screen), return to Menu by Entering a M, press Enter to continue, Type B (for back) to go to prior date, or type F (for forward) to advance to next date.
Option 4 will generate print reports . The system will pre-fill the date range with first day of the month. You may enter a date range that you want to print in the YYMMDD format. Press return when ready. After the Date Range has been entered the software will indicate the following: This file (Report.wri) can be printed whenever you want. To print the file you can use WRITE in windows 3.1 and NOTEPAD, WORD, WORDPAD in Windows 85/98/00/XP. This Report.wri file can also be FAXED to your Doctors office. Example: Print from 01Sept94 to 10Sept94 Y/N? You have the option to continue on to print the reports in that date range by entering Y. Or you may return to the menu for another selection by entering N or space. This is used as a second chance to verify what dates will be printed. Your output file report.wri is ready You can print the file using Windows WORDAD You can also start WordPad by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Accessories, and then clicking WordPad. Click on File, Select open, Open C:/report.wri , the report will appear on the screen, click File and select print to print.
Option 5 will close out the database and wrap-up the
system. This option should be selected when you are completed using the system.
BPDL.EXE will generate two data files on the C drive called C:\Pressure.dat (DATA) C:\Pressure.IDX (INDEX)After a period of time you may want to copy these files to a floppy for backup or storage. To start a new data base make sure the following is done: 1. Obtain all the reports you may want before continuing. 2. Copy Pressure.Dat and Pressure.Idx to a floppy disc. 3. Perform a directory on the floppy to verify the data has been copied correctly. Label your floppy disc so you can identify it for later use. 4. Delete the files on the C drive. Delete the files through file manager in windows or del command from DOS. 5. Execute BPDL.EXE and the software will generate a new Pressure.Dat and Pressure.Idx files.
DOS or WINDOWS 3.1 & Windows 95, 98, XP OPERATING PROCEDURE From DOS at the prompt type the Directory where the program was stored BPDL.EXE From Windows 3.1 you can run from the Program manger by selecting file for the menu. You click run and type C:\BPDL.EXE in the command line and click OK. You can also double click BPDL.EXE in File Manager when you locate file.
To Build an Icon for BPDL under Windows 95/98/oo XP 1. Go to help and find shortcuts. 2. Select - adding to desktop (to read the basic instructions). 3. Select - Explorer 4. Following the help instructions after finding the BPDL.exe 5. After you generate the Icon on the desktop, Right click your mouse and select - Properties. 6. On the Shortcut to BPDL.exe properties screen select - Program 7. Click the box - Close on exit 8. Click - Change Icon 9. Select a Icon you may like, the select - OK 10. Now you have a desktop Icon to run your BPDL program without going to DOS.
