Today, Uncle Sam tends to web auction surplus, and much of it is "de-miled" to the point of scrap before it is released. The past twenty years, most electronics surplus has been manufacturer over-run , over-buy, or "stranded" parts, left over from production model changes. Unfortunately for the Ham and electronic hobbyist, the majority of the US electronic manufacturing base has run across the lake to China and Taiwan. Some of that surplus is making its way into US marketing channels, but the supply isn't what it used to be.

The information on this site is updated when I have time (I have a job, too!) Although I am acquainted with several of the owners of dealers listed here, I have no relationship with any of them except as a customer from time to time. No guarantee is made (or implied) for anything!

Not really a "surplus" store, but seems to have a WIDE range of parts from recent to old. Still a real electronics store with counter people who are helpful. Worth a stop by.

Nice selection of parts, well organized. Wide stock of semi's under the front counter. A few surplus ham "accessories" when I was in there, picked up a new car adapter for my Alinco at a good price. Also has a store in San Diego, CA.

The "Disneyland" of surplus stores. If it was ever made, they have it, had it, or will have it. Not well organized, the third floor is a huge browsing area. They also have industrial surplus, commercial surplus, a wholesale division for electronics, and a sister company, Parts Express. You could spend the entire day here.

Has a showroom, catalog and web site. Not the place it was in the 60's and 70's as Uncle Sam doesn't generate as much surplus as he used to (and tends to "de-mill" anything useable these days). However, they are still receiving Govt and commercial material. Makes a good 1 or 2 hour rest stop as travelling I-75.

On line catalog, don't know if they still print one on paper. Very large selection of semiconductors in stock.

Has a web site, but a much more complete catalog. Some stuff in their showroom that doesn't appear in publication. If travelling to Wheeling or Pittsburgh, worth a couple hours side trip to nose around. Good mix of surplus and new production items

They have a nice website with inventory list download. They have will call available for phone in orders for local customers, but I don't know if they have a show room for browsing.

W.J. Ford Surplus. - GONE!

I mentioned about 5 months ago that W.J.Ford Surplus sales in Smith Falls On( near Ottawa) was going out of business and an auction followed. There are still some German aircraft and tank radios as well as some British types. Next week a scrap dealer comes to quote on "removing" the balance remaining. His email is closed and not working .

Fertik Electronics is reported as being out of business.

Mid-America Company (Midamco) used to have a showroom on Archer Ave. Evolved into VANCO, a wholesale supplier of TV-Video-CB parts to distributors & Dealers. Don't know if they have a showroom still, and they may be wholesale only now.

Gemini Electronics is reported to be closed. Their old phone number has been re-assigned.

Hi-Tech Surplus seems to be out of business. Their web address is for sale and the last listed number belongs to a residence now.
