SHELDON TOWNSHIP CEMETERY,
MONROE COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Also known as the Oil City Cemetery
Compiled by Erma (Wallace) Olson (1906-1994). After this compilation in 1942
the cemetery was destroyed and plowed by the farmer who owned the surounding
land. He was later forced to restore it but most of the stones never were
returned. Her list also contains some info on people buried there with no
stones at the time she copied them. Erma was a life long Oil City Resident
and genealogist. Many thanks to Erma!

The
following information was submitted by Michelle Heath. According to her records
the following is shown. Can anyone tell us if the dates above are accurate
from the cemetery? Thanks Michelle for sharing this data.
Conflict of dates: My Great-great grandfather was Winslow J Heath. I have
his obituary, and his Civil war pension file, and his death certificate and
what I have does not correspond with Mrs. Wallaces.
Her information states that W. J. Heath was in the 75th WI Infantry and
it was actually the 25th WI Infantry. He was also born in 1825 not 1824.
In regards to Susan M. (Smith) Heath-his wife, She was born 6-1-1835 and
died 4-15-1918. Mrs wallace has 1916 for her death date. I got her death
date from her widows pension file, I have applied for her death certificate
also. I thought I should submitt the correct information, and I hope this
is the right place. Michele
Heath
