Categories are approximate only. Tunes move about. Scottish tunes migrated to England as well as to North America.
Irish tunes migrated. Some American St. Patrick's Day "Irish" tunes are actually American.
And some Irish tunes, like "Whiskey in the Jar" are also English broadsides.
Music created in G-VOX's Encore, converted to GIF in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator. (Encore was originated by Passport, and G-VOX has acquired Passport.)
Some MIDI files created in Opcode's Vision on Ensoniq EPS 16+, Yamaha QY10, or other non-general MIDI device. Most single track MIDI files set for General MIDI patch 1 - acoustic grand piano. You may have to adjust patches on your synth to get the sound you want.
Sheet Music Plus - has music software for sale via an online music store. The MIDI files were created on a G3 Macintosh, but MIDI is cross platform; and Windows machines with MIDI capability, or Netscape and Explorer with appropriate plugins should handle them on Macs or PCs.

The GIFs & MIDIs are transmitted by http, so you have the option of setting your browser options to save them to disk instead of playing the MIDI, for example. (If you are logged on from your cubicle at work, your boss may wonder about the music.)
As of late July 2000, I've had reports that some browsers are acting strangely on ftp. Previously, I added an http mirror to transmit files by http from the alphabetical list. I have now changed this list to do the same.
