The Family History Library has begun the
process of digitizing all of the Family History books in their collection. About 5000 books have been
digitized and are available.

Indiana Genealogical Society
Regular membership is open to men and women 18 years of age and
older who prove one or more of his or her ancestors meets the qualifications of
an Indiana Pioneer. An Indiana Pioneer is one who lived within the present
boundary of an Indiana county on or before December 31 of the qualifying year
for a particular county. The qualifying year for Porter County is 1840.
This is a pretty neat site - you can order a copy of any Civil
War photo they have. Huge Data base.

This is a GREAT search tool - the Ancestral File and
International Geanealogical Index (IGI - births christenings and marriages) are
online now.

newspaper published from 1843 to 1884. Many of these will be for obituaries that
