This pattern came from an old knitting and crochet magazine. When I received it, it was missing the cover and the first few pages so I have no idea exactly where it came from. It does have on one page "Copyright 1944 in U.S.A. and Canada, Bernhard Ulmann Co., Inc.". I did diligent searches for this company and apparently they no longer exist. I am absolutely sure this pattern is now in the public domain. Okay, now we got that out of the way. I don't have a scanner, but this little helmet has a 6-panel construction with small point in the front, and covers the head down past the ears, and has a strap that buttons on one side. Even though it is for a small size, I have made it bigger as my son got older. His first one was when he was 2 years old and I made it out of neon green -- he loved it! Here it is: Peter Piper #1897 Ch3, join with a slip st into ring, 6 sc. in ring. 2nd round -- 2 s c in each st; 12 s c. Mark space before next st as beginning of round. 3rd round -- * 3 s c in next s c, skip space under loops sually worked into of next s c, work 1 s c around post of this s c (rope st); repeat from * 5 times; 24 s c (6 sections). 4th round -- * 2 s c in next st (inc.), 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next st, 1 rope st around post of next s c; repeat from * to end of round; 36 sts.
