FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

I've noticed over the past few years that there are certain questions that I get asked repeatedly. Not complaining, mind you...I always am glad to hear from readers! But I thought I'd create a FAQs page, just to make it easier and quicker for y'all to get your questions answered. And if your question doesn't happen to be on this page, by all means, feel free to e-mail me!

How come you only have the 6 most recent episodes posted in the Archives? Why don't you post more, so I can read the whole run of the strip?

Well, thanks for your interest in the comic strip, first of all! There's several reasons why I don't have the whole run of the strip posted online. Primarily, the webspace it would take to do that would be astronomical. My website provider provides me with enough space to post the 6 previous episodes, as well as the new episode, and the bunch of other fun areas on this website. To post over a hundred episodes would be too big. Secondly, I have a book out, published by Kensington Books, that contains the first 112 episodes, (among other things), and hey…. I would like to provide some incentive for people to buy the book, instead of just reading everything online! (It's only $13.00….and discounted even lower than that at several places online, too….quite the bargain!). Thirdly, (and related to my previous point), Kensington Books would not be happy if I posted all those episode online! In fact, it would probably violate some copyright law, so...I can't!!! But again...thanks for asking!

I e-mailed you, but I never heard back from you. Don't you read your e-mail?

I do read all of my e-mail. And I'm extremely grateful to everyone who writes to me. It really means a lot that you took the time to write and let me know how you feel about the comic strip. From the beginning, I felt it was important I respond personally to everyone who writes. I have tried to maintain that philosophy. However, the volume of e-mail I receive has increased dramatically since when the comic strip premiered. And, on top of the "fan" e-mails, there's plenty of business-oriented e-mails that I need to deal with promptly, on a daily basis. It can take several weeks for me to respond to e-mails from readers, depending on how backed up I am on e-mails. My mailbox, unfortunately, automatically deletes e-mails after 28 days. So, on the offhand chance that I get really behind on responding to reader e-mails, I occasionally lose some e-mails! (I do, however, read all of my e-mails, so even if an e-mail gets automatically deleted before I got a chance to respond to it, I did read it, usually within a day or so of when I received it). So, I have to apologize right here and say I'm sorry that I can't always respond personally to every reader e-mail I receive; sometimes the duties of producing the comic strip take priority and e-mails get lost before I can respond. But I do try to get to them all. And please remember, I do read every e-mail I receive, and I thank you deeply for your interest in the comic strip.

How come when I go to look at the newest episode of "Kyle's B&B" at the website, the previous one is still posted, even though the date of the newest one is up there?

First of all, I'm sorry you had a problem accessing the new episode. This occasionally happens to some readers....the old episode shows up in your browser, even though the new one is posted. I don't have the technical knowledge to explain why this happens. But every time I post a new episode, I usually get several e-mails from readers who are still getting the old episode, (even though the new one is definitely there, as I've already received e-mails from readers who have seen it). Luckily, now there's a simple solution....you can view the new episode at it's alternate online location, Out in America. And if that doesn't work, here's what I suggest:

  1. Clean your browser's cache, and try again. This sometimes does the trick.
  2. If you have an alternate browser, like Netscape, try accessing the website using that. This often works.
  3. Wait a few hours, or a day, and try again. This often works
  4. If you have access to another computer, that you have never used before to visit the website, try using that. This should always work.

Why don't you show more nudity / full-frontal nudity / or graphic sex in the comic strip?

Man, do I get asked this a lot! There are a few reasons why there's no full-frontal nudity in Kyle's B&B....for one thing, most of the publications the comic strip runs in don't allow full-frontal nudity. Neither does my website provider. But aside from that, I think I naturally write in a sort of "PG-13" level, and also, I think there's probably enough graphic sexual material out there already, especially in gay themed media, (not that there's anything wrong with nudity....I drew plenty of nudes throughout my figure drawing classes in college! And I still think drawing the nude male figure is a spectacular thing to do).  But Kyle's B&B, for the moment at least, is not the forum for it. However, the comic strip is not exactly lacking in male nudity, or sexual situations! As any reader of the comic strip knows, there's plenty of male flesh on display, and what character's bare butt haven't we seen?  And I don't think the strip is lacking in bedroom encounters, either! But the way it's handled now,  I guess, is my way of doing what feels natural to me, and also staying within the guidelines of what is allowable in the media that runs the strip. Luckily, those 2 things coincide. Will things ever change? Hmm….maybe, you never know. I have to say, though...the large majority of readers like things the way they are. (I've even had some comments that I show too much nudity!). Well...what can I say? I have to go with what feels right. If you really want to see me draw male nudity, though, I am in the process of marketing some of my figure drawing work, so check out the Merchandise/Artwork page to see what's going on with that.

How can I see the early episodes of the comic strip?

Um...well, in case you missed the first question….it's easy….just purchase a copy of the Kyle's B&B book. It contains the complete first 5 years of episodes of the comic strip! Click Here for details about it, and how to purchase it.

That's great you are syndicating the comic strip to publications around the world, but why isn't Kyle's B&B running in MY local gay & lesbian and/or alternative publication?

Indeed, why isn't it? Believe me, I would love to have the comic strip running in as many publications as possible. I try to submit it around to potential publications as time allows, but I can't reach everyone. Also, new publications that I may not even know about start up in cities all the time. Bottom line is, if you'd like Kyle's B&B  running in your local publication, (and it doesn't have to be a gay publication, either...there are plenty of alternative pubs that the strip would do well in),  please….let the publication know about it! E-mail them, write a postal letter, call them on the phone, talk to someone you know who may work on the staff. Let them know the strip is easily available and affordable, and has done really well in all the publications that carry it. You can give them my e-mail address,    kylesbnb@aol.com
and the website address,
www.kylecomics.com

I missed a certain episode or sequence of episodes of the strip. Can you e-mail them to me?

I can't, unfortunately, e-mail out various prior episodes of the comic strip to all those who ask. It would be just too time-consuming, especially because the file sizes are enormous. Don't forget, the Archives does have the 6 most recent episodes of the comic strip, so check there to see if the one you want is still posted. And then, the Kyle's B&B book contains episodes # 1 through # 112, (click here for info on that).  Other than that, in the merchandise area, I do have custom, signed prints available of any individual episode, for those who are looking to frame & hang a favorite episode of theirs. Not exactly an inexpensive way to go about seeing prior episodes, ( the signed, custom prints of previous episodes sell for $12.00 each), but if there is an episode you must see, this is a way to do it.
