Would you like to have Kyle's Bed & Breakfast running in your publication? It's easier, and more affordable, than you may think! Read on for some details about publishing the strip:
The comic strip has been running continuously since 1998, and now appears regularly in publications across North America, including The Washington DC Blade, Chicago Free Press, Philadelphia Gay News, Orange County Blade of southern California, In Newsweekly, (a Boston publication that covers all 6 New England states), and the NY Blade, as well as others throughout the USA.. But there are still quite a few areas where the comic strip is not yet running.
A new episode of the comic strip is produced every 2 weeks, (biweekly), but if your publication happens to run less frequently, (monthly or bimonthly), that works fine, too. You simply let me know how many strips you'd like per month, (or every 2 months), and that will be how many you are sent. And don't worry about skipping episodes; although there are some ongoing storylines in the comic strip, I make sure you can follow the stories without seeing every episode. In fact, it's easy for new readers to jump into the story at any point!
The price to run the strip is very affordable. (I'd prefer not to post rates on the website; but if you are interested, please contact me by e-mail, let me know what publication you are with, location, etc, and we can discuss rates). I do provide discounts for advance bulk payment, so ask about that, too. Or, you can pay for the strip episode-by-episode; whatever is easier for you!
The comic strip can be sent to you via postal mail or e-mail, (TIFF file, or whatever other format you require). At the moment, almost all publications prefer it by e-mail, but, again…...whatever is easier for you, I can provide.
Articles about the comic strip have appeared over the past couple of years in the Advocate, Genre, Instinct Magazine, and even mainstream publications such as the New York Times and Newsday. There is also a collection book of the strip that was published by Kensington Books in September, 2004, that went on to become a Lambda Literary Award Finalist for "Best Humor Book" of the year in 2005.
Every publication that runs the comic strip has had great success with it; it is a remarkably easy & affordable way to add some spice and excitement to your publication, as well as attract a wealth of new readers who will become loyal readers, seeking out your publication to catch the latest episode. But don't take my word for it; read below what some of the editors of publications that run the strip have to say about it:
From the first time I took a look at "Kyle's Bed & Breakfast," I knew I wanted to include the strip in our publications. Greg Fox tells real stories about real people -- except maybe their bodies, which are pleasantly unreal! -- and yet doesn't forget to entertain along the way. Almost overnight, Kyle and his gang developed a huge following among our readers, and even we jaded journalists on staff consider it our "guilty pleasure" to regularly check out what drama the Long Island gang is up to
Chris Crain Editorial Director New York Blade (www.nyblade.com) Washington Blade (www.washblade.com)
One of the best drawn comic strips out there, not just in the gay press, but across the board. It's so nice to read a comic strip with real characters facing real issues -- and with lots of drama, of course. Funny, clever, mature - it's difficult not to get wrapped up in the story. I'm always waiting for the next installment. What a soap opera.
Fred Kuhr Editor In Newsweekly
Kyle's Bed & Breakfast is by far and away our magazine's most popular feature. Many of our readers have emailed and called to ask when our next issue is coming out just so that they can get caught up on what's happening at the B & B. Greg Fox has an incredible talent to keep the relationships of the cast members compelling while touching on important issues facing the gay community. While Fox's artistry (the guys are hot!) may be what initially draws readers to Kyle's, it's the storyline that keeps them begging for more.
