The Abandoned Childs Prayer
I can hear her thinking God
she's thinking about me
She's afraid to tell anyone that I exist
but my mommy doesn't see
That I know her voice and I feel her breathe
her blood flows through my heart
Dear God you know my greatest hope
is that we'd never part
But if I should die 'cause Mommy didn't know
the "gift" you gave in me
I'll pray her soul you'll keep dear God
And please forgive her
she just didn't see
And as she looks for that perfect place
where she hopes I won't be found
Let me gaze into my Mothers face
for I don't want this time to be through
Please tell her that I love her God
and that you love her too
But if I should die
'cause Mommy didn't know
what a "gift" you gave in me
Please God forgive her
she just couldn't see
And on these days when she may think of me
please comfort her with truth
That the angels hold me safe and sound
because I'm in Heaven with you
And God my greatest prayer would be
that someday
Mommy will hold me in her arms
so lovingly
