Ladder Company 62 is an all-volunteer fire company of the Long
Beach Fire Department in Nassau County, NY. The department responds to
about 4,700 emergency calls each year within the City of Long Beach and the
nearby villages of Atlantic Beach, Atlantic Beach Estates and East Atlantic
Beach, making it the busiest fire department on Long Island.
Ladder 62 is stationed at Fire Headquarters, located at Long
Beach City Hall. The company's 1990 Pierce 105-foot ladder tower, is the
longest ladder company on Long Beach Island, hence the company slogan "Longest
Reach On The Beach."
The company is currently led by Captain Matthew Fichtelberg,
with the assistance of Lieutenants Joseph Schwarz and David Velapoldi.
Company member and Ex-Chief Stephen Fraser serves as the current Fire
Commissioner for the city.
