A Brief History... I first became interested in slot cars during the 60's when I saw a Scalextric demonstration in a London department store. I was instantly hooked on the idea and Scalextric went straight to the top of my Christmas wish list. Santa duly obliged squeezing a figure of eight GP3 set into my Christmas stocking! This set had two Cooper F1 cars and used the old style Scalextric rubber track. I think Dad must have been pretty keen too as, later on Christmas day, a Goodwood Chicane and these two sports cars (see below) mysteriously arrived!
My interest continued throughout the slot car boom years of the sixties, expanding my collection of cars, trading my Scalextric layout for a four lane Airfix track and frequent visits to our then local pay track - a six laner at Beatties in Southgate, London. After that things went quiet for a while but now, years later, I have three sons to race with! Ladybrook Valley Raceway was born... |
