Phase 1 starts at the intersection of Spring and Centre and will end just before Mount Vernon Street. Work will begin in May and should be completed by December. Construction will be done in small work zones, about 400 feet, to limit disruptions. Left turn lanes will be added to the intersection of Centre and LaGrange. In addition to the new turning lanes, the lights will have pedestrian chippers and the crosswalks will be raised. The projected cost of Phase I is 1.3 million dollars. The cost of Phase II is estimated at 3.5 million dollars. The City is paying the entire cost of Phase I but looking for state funds to help pay the cost of Phase II.
