Meeting Minutes - May 25, 2004

Committee Reports

Zoning

217 Park Street: Proposal toad a 13’x 24’ rear addition

No opposition, minor dimensional relief required.  The Zoning Sub-Committee recommended approval.  No vote was taken because this already has gone before the zoning board and was approved.

21-23 Sprint Street: Proposal to erect a 10’x 12’ precast shed

The shed is to house lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc.  No opposition, minor dimensional relief required.  The Zoning Sub-Committee recommended approval.

A motion to recommend disapproval passed unanimously.

Basic Services

Fontaines has been sold.  Not sure what the new owners plan for the restaurant.  The new owners are scheduled to come to the next Neighborhood Council meeting.

Chestnut Hill Reality plans to build an apartment building on Edgemere Road.  Chestnut Hill Reality showed their initial plans at a local neighborhood meeting.  No one was in favor of the proposal.  Chestnut Hill Reality will revise the plans, and re-release the proposal this fall.  The proposal will probably fall under the BRA Article 80 review.

The Parkway Family Day honoring Korean War veterans will be held June 26th at Millennium Park.

John Tobin on the New School Choice Plan

John Tobin gave a quick background on the task force that has been working to revise the current school choice program.  The task force will present eight possible school choice plans.  Although Councillor Tobin praised the work of the task force, he is not backing any of the eight proposals.  Instead Councillor Tobin is proposing a plan that increases the walk zone preference radius and makes the existing lottery system more fair and easier to understand.

New Business

According to the Mayors Office Neighborhood Representative, Jay Walsh, bids to do the work on Centre Street are due back soon, and work should begin in the second or third week of June.
