The best way to help
another DynaVox programmer, or to show your ideas to them, is to allow them to actually load your user onto their device and then to navigate all of the pages and links. Copying the entire back-up and then having them restore it to a new user will preserve all of your links and even allow all of your custom symbols to transfer. In order to allow you to keep control over your back-up file and to allow you to revise it occasionally as you upgrade your own user, I suggest that you upload the back-up file to the FTP space on your own server. This will also save the space on my server and will allow me to offer many more pages, songs and user back-ups on "The DynaVox Page Exchange" website. If you have never made a webpage or uploaded stuff to your FTP space, I will walk you through the directions to access the FTP space for America Online members. For other servers please adapt this to follow their directions.AOL allows 2 megabytes per screen name, and 5 screen names per account for a total of 10 megabytes. (7 screen names with AOL 5.0). If your current back-up is more than 2 megabytes, now would be a good time to clean it up. Copy the user to a new user from the user browser, then change to that user. Delete any pages and custom symbols that you now longer use. Click on the system maintenance. Back-up the new user to a .bck file. If that file is less than 2.0 megabytes, you are ready to go. Please also clear any buttons that have personal information like phone numbers, addresses, etc.. Remember these pages will be available for all to view. Also, please delete any copyrighted material (i.e. Gateway, etc.) that you are prevented from copying.

- Go to Keyword MYPLACE
- click on See My FTP Space
- click on upload
- click on ASCII Text
- type in file name i.e. myfile.bck
- click Continue
- click Select File
- find the directory with myfile.bck and double click on the file.
- click on send
The file should upload.

Tell me about your user, (age, schooling, disability, etc.) what device and version software you are using.If you could not get the file size below 2 megabytes or if you have lots of other files and webpages taking up much of your FTP space, you will have to follow the instructions offered to make a webpage in the AOL HOMEPAGE community. It is real easy and quick and it instantly increases your FTP space to 4 megabytes for that screen name.
